Mil-Tec Men's US Navy Pea Coat - The coat was delivered 3 days before expected. Nice surprise. Coming from a family of seamstresses I know a little bit about quality. The quilt lining inside is nice and comfortable and conforms to the outer shell. Meaning, you don't get the sloppy lining the folds over and looks like a wrinkled suit. The stitching for a coat at this price point is better than good. Eventually you might have to resew a button or two or tighten up a seam but that's not really a big deal. I've had $300 coats in the past that I had to do that to. Overall the coat is well made and this is a good buy. It's not super heavy. I'd say it's medium weight and it should keep you warm in cold temps if you don't wear it with just a t-shirt underneath. It was 35 degrees and a bit windy the other day and I was good with a long sleeve mock neck, flannel shirt and this coat. I haven't had the chance to test it in colder temps yet.Sizing worked out well for me. I'm 5-9, 180 lbs, 43" chest (44" with a sweater on) with a 34 inch waist and a large fits nicely, with a little extra room around the waist. Fits very well around the shoulders and chest, and the length is perfect (down to the bottom of my butt). For the record. This is 50% wool, which is not really a bad thing but it's why the price is reasonable. If you want a better quality peacoat made of 80 to 90% wool, and probably made in the USA, you're going to pay $300 to $400...or more. Schott makes a very nice peacoat for $300 but I didn't want to spend that much.

I received the coat in 5 days from the day of order. Many of the other reviews were accurate with some being a bit too negative. The coat is 50% wool and the styling is pretty close to the original pea coat design. I was in the Navy and the original issue US Navy pea coat was much heavier. (100% wool) This coat is lighter, but still heavy enough to be worn comfortably in many settings. The workmanship APPEARS to be very good, but time will tell. Yes, like everyone else's coat, the buttons are loosely attached. I may or may not do something about that. I bought the black pea coat and I am VERY happy with the style, fit and overall quality. I bought the 43"-44" listed size. I wear a 44R in a suit coat. The fit of this coat was very very slightly large, but still an excellent fit. Dressy and casual all at the same time.

The coat can't just as advertised. I wear a medium size shirt and ordered a large size coat. Fit is perfect for wearing over a sweater. Good quality construction.

I did not have very high expectations for this coat; I just wanted something warm with a professional appearance (to be worn over a shirt and tie, as my only other cold weather coat is an olive drab Czech M85 parka). I am pleased to say that this coat is excellent for its price. I say "excellent for its price" because, no, this is not a genuine Sterlingwear U.S. Navy peacoat (it is a German made replica), and is not constructed to the same standards as a true Sterlingwear, however, this coat comes in at almost 1/4 the price (I paid roughly $80 for mine), so you shouldn't expect it to be.Starting with the good:This coat is warm. Very warm. The material is thick, sturdy, and well insulated, but is breathable enough to not get too sweaty, depending on how many mid-layers you wear. It also offers a small degree of water resistance, but is by no means a rain coat. The buttons are solidly made, and I don't anticipate them breaking easily, though they are not well affixed (see next section). The cut of the coat is comfortable and not overly restrictive, and yes, it does have a single vent cut in the tail. It can be easily dressed up or down, to fit both casual, and classy wardrobes. The not so good:While most of the coat is solidly constructed and well sewn, the stitching on the buttons is shoddy at best. Mine were very loose, and slightly misaligned. If you know how to sew, or know someone who would be willing to do it for you, this is easily remedied. Not really issues, but should be mentioned:While the inside of the coat is lined with polyester, the collar is not, leaving wool blend in direct contact with your neck, even when it is folded down; it will itch. Either wear a scarf, a turtleneck, or just get used to it. The material also collects an excessive amount of lint, so a lint roller or, preferably, a clothes brush is a must, though this is absolutely normal for coarse fabrics. The inside pocket is awkwardly placed and difficult to get at, but I believe the genuine Sterlingwear coat is the same way. The letter sizing does not match most American sizing systems, but if you go by the chest measurements in the product description, you should be fine (measure your chest circumference at its widest point, and add two inches or so: I have a 38 inch chest, so I ordered a Medium, which is slightly loose, but accommodates extra layers).Overall, this is a very good coat for the money. As I stated, it is not a Sterlingwear, but if you need a reasonably priced, functional coat, that can be worn casually or with semi-formal attire, and are willing to deal with a few quirks, I would highly recommend it.

I wore this for one winter and loved it. The buttons are big and feel strong and long lasting. I wish there was an inside pocket, and the pockets were larger, but I had a tailor adjust the sleeves and add a pocket and now I'm stylin'. The collar can pop and cover your neck area, that plus a good quality scarf your going to be nice and warm and look great at the same time. I also lost about 40 pounds after grabbing one and absolutely bought a size down cause I love this jacket. Great quality!

This jacket is the exact coat that the US Navy uses. It fits perfectly, and is warm and comfortable as well, and can be worn to any classy event.
