Step bits are designed to cut through thin metals quickly and easily and this bit performs that job admirably. I’ve drilled dozens of holes with this but now and it still has almost no chipping and cuts great. I use it in a small impact screwgun and it works as advertised.

Best step bit hands down. Cuts like a hot knife threw butter. Greenlee used to be my go to. These Milwaukee step bits are now the only ones in my bag

Exactly what I expect from a Milwaukee tool. Dependable, capable, and durable. Can’t ask for too much more.

really rips through metal and doesn't throw shavings at you like other unibits. I'm so tired of having burns all over my arms from cheaper products.

Made a 1 3/4 inch hole on a metal door.

The bit cuts great at first but after around 8 holes it was almost at the end of its life. I have used other brands that lasted way longer, unfortunately the cost of this bit for only a couple of holes in mild steel makes ot not worth it.

I was leery of this bit due to the thickness of the shaft, and I was, unfortunately, correct. I had 2 pieces of sheet metal steel to bore out from 3/4" to 1" to accept a larger bolt. I was using a standard (non-impact) drill with a standard (chuck wrench) 1/2" drive. The first piece of steel was about 3/16" thick, and the Shockwave bit went right through it like a hot knife through butter. The hole was clean, and there were long curls of metal on the floor where the bit had sheered the edges cleanly in several loops. I had high hopes for the next piece. The second piece of steel was about 3/8" thick. As noted, the metal already had a 3/4" hole in it. The Shockwave started to bite, but clearly didn't like this piece as much and going was much slower. The first step on the stepped bit did dig in, though, when I pressed down on the drill. As the second step met the top of the piece, while the first step was still going through, the bit suddenly stopped and the shaft of the Shockwave snapped cleanly in two, leaving the bit firmly in the sheet metal and the shaft still firmly gripped by the drill.I can't speak to using this bit in an impact driver, nor the longevity of the edge or the shaft. For myself, I'll be looking for something with a stronger shaft and perhaps a longer step.
