Mitchell's flexible abrasive cords and tapes debur, grind, and polish hard-to-reach areas which are inaccessible to most standard tools. Ideal for narrow slots and grooves, small holes, and curved surfaces. The round cords and flat tapes can be used on metal, plastic, and wood. Packed in adhesive tape like spools in generous 50-foot lengths.

(I'm putting this same review on all the Mitchell's threads I bought.)I make jewelry and I like to do a lot of small piercings in the wax models. Polishing the finished item can be very difficult in those spots—even knife-edge polishing wheels or small points can only get so deep.I don't remember how I stumbled across these abrasive threads, but wow, they are just the thing! I bought them in several thicknesses (the very fine ones are a bit fragile, but sometimes the only thing that fits; I soon learned how not to break them).I bought several grits also. Coarse helps remove casting scale and tunes up the shape of the piercing; fine grit puts a basic polish on. The threads basically substitute for filing and sanding in these tight spots. I would love to have Mitchell's cords in even finer grits, but once the main work is done, I switch to cotton thread and rub a bit of tripoli or rouge on it.
