My cat wouldn't settle on heating bags or warming blanket, and he was very ill and weak and had to be cleaned up at least twice a day.On a desperate whim, I bought these bulbs and the appropriate dome for them. My cat gravitated to the heat, preferred it, and I credit it with prolonging his life and giving him warmth throughout the rest of his moments. These bulbs worked so well that I'm convinced the vet industry and pet parents to the fur kind and not the scaly kind are sleeping on these bulbs as a heat source as a tool for comfort.Thank you.

I use these in reflector sockets, hang them over pet beds and place them on my covered porch to provide a heated place for my outdoor cats to escape cold weather. Works and they seem to appreciate it!

We use these in our chicken coops and they love the added warmth! (The 250 watt bulbs). We used to use the red bulbs but that kept them awake off and on during the night, they could see one another and peck/pick on each other (hens can be that word that rhymes with witches) and I thought there had to be something, then I found these and thank heavens! Quiet and warm coops, no more late night parties with the red light on. 4 star rating because just as a 1 star rater said, these bulbs are VERY fragile! My husband just bumped the bulb (it wasn't on overnight so it was cool) and it just shattered. Take my advice, if you need a bulb or 2 buy at least 2 packs of 2.... always buy ENOUGH so you have a backup for hiccups that are just gonna happen.

To heck with the lizard heat, I use the heater in a drop light and hang it amongst my covered outside water softener. Our temps are often in the high teens to low 20s at night. The temperature inside our covered water softener is about 35 degrees. No freezing and that's great.
