When I was installing it, I was tightening the bolt and watching the included split lock washer to be "flat" as my indicator to stop further tightening. Before the lock washer was flat, the aluminum stripped out. Not impressed with this product. Unfortunately it was a waste of money. It does seem to hold a flag just fine though
