Bought this for our Guava tree that we can never seem to nail down. This gives and easy way to check the soil in seconds! The fact that it looks elegant enough to stay in all the time removes any hassle. It is surprisingly dense and feels very well made. If you have a picky plant and want a stylish tool... this is for you!

This is sooooooo wonderful!!!! I don’t write reviews. But I do love plants and I’ve never even seen a tool like this before. I felt dumb to have to really think out that the bottom notch of the “swordâ€is actually the top part of the soil but once you can get that through your thick brain, then it’s easy to understand the parts that you are surveying. I love it so much! And it matches all of my champagne bronze fixtures in my house! I can’t believe I didn’t find this sooner.

This is a solid brass moisture gauge and doesn’t require a battery! Just push it into the soil, pull it out, and you can see how moist or dry the soil is. Will work great to test potted plants or garden soil. Love it!

Snapped on first use. Brass is very thin where the notches are located.

The tool is well made and simple to use. It does not actually have any technological measurement of soil moisture and depends on a visual analysis for that information.

As suggested by my favorite plant blogger and Instagram person, Samatha . . .houseplusplants, this is the perfect probe to check the moisture level. So, I ordered it. Vey happy with it. It is a quality item that should last.

I recently moved my plants into a new office and have been having a terrible time getting the watering right. The office is heated with steam radiators and is so hot and dry. The top of the soil was always dry but I couldn’t figure out what was going on at the root level. Now I check with the soil probe before I water. I have a history of killing plants by over watering them, but now I feel confident that I am watering when I need to.
