5 star review because the thing is solid, has a convenient form-factor, and they accepted a return, but this doesn't work for my purposes.I need a solution to convert VGA output from a Raspberry Pi 4 with a Recalbox RGB Dual hat board (which outputs VGA and SCART/RGB). This adapts the VGA to S-video but it does not convert it to a proper NTSC form for my TV. If I had to guess, this helps if you have an S-video input monitor which natively accepts 31 kHz horizontal refresh frequency. For my purposes, I need a VGA to S-video _converter_ (~$15 on Amazon), which needs circuitry and a processor for the task. This does not perform that task, or I couldn't figure it out at least.

When you set up karaoke you never know what you have to do to set up at different venues so a variety of adapters is a must. With this adapter, just make certain that your computer video card is capable to producing the required signal or else the adapter will not work for you.

This is an excellent cable but it didn't do what I wanted it to do. I was trying to hook up my TV to my PC via S-video and it simply doesn't work that way. You must have a converter box for it to work.

While my AMD GPU does support an analog signal via VGA out, it seems that most GPUS (if not all) do not output a composite signal and instead output RGBS. This was not the product I needed, instead I needed a transcoder, which will be a lot more expensive.

I made a mistake thinking this was a composite to vga cable; This cable is vga to composite, meaning you can't use it to connect composite devices to a monitor. Don't buy this is you want to play GC or SNES on your monitor, it won't work!That said, I decided to test out its real purpose and it works great. Nice, clear image, no huge color loss. I would be completely satisfied if I had bought this cable for that reason.**For those of you who are having trouble with this cable, MAKE SURE YOUR GRAPHICS CARD CAN HANDLE THE CONVERSION! CHECK YOUR CARD'S MANUAL OR CONSULT THE OEM WEBSITE!

!!!THIS IS NOT A CONVERTER!!!This adapter will not convert a digital signal to analog. This is used as an adapter for video cards that already have that capability. It is, for all intent, a replacement part. I purchased this one and it works perfectly.If you want to connect the VGA output from a computer to an NTSC TV you will need a converter. Try searching for "flicker box" and you should several of them.

I used it twice so far...But for the people are thinking of getting this..I recomend you first check if your laptop has Video out put on your video card..Or it will not work for you...This is more compact than brining a HDMI cable...
