Cute toy and baby does like it the only thing that's a problem is the little pegs that get hit by a hammer are always falling through bc the piece that's supposed to keep them in there move so it's a little bit of a pain

This looked like a great idea when I ordered it. Love having new things for the grandkids to play with, but it didn't take long for the greatness to wear off. They are trying to do too many things with one toy. Every tot loves to bang on things, so the hammer/nail thing is a natural. BUT, it's poorly implemented. First, you have to assemble it, which shouldn't be a big deal. It's got 5 plastic "rockers" under the wooden pegs. When one gets knocked down, it pushes the opposite peg up. They number the pegs 1-10, but kids who are going to be pounding these pegs, are NOT going to be counting. You have to install the pegs from the bottom. Fine, but to do that, you have to push the rockers aside. They are separated by what look like pieces of plastic straw (had to do something with them if they can't drink with them I guess). But they don't really keep the rockers apart, so after you slide the rockers enough to get all the pegs in, the plastic straws are broken and the rockers slide back and forth and the pegs fall out. I had to put tape on the rod between the rockers. Shape sorters are a HUGE deal for tots and a great thing for them to learn, but THESE SHAPES, cute as they are, are not different enough for a child young enough to be interested in this, to figure out. They'll just be frustrated. (Per my elementary school teacher wife and grandmother and proven by grandson.) The shape differences are pretty subtle. Lastly, the xylophone is fun for the kids, but flat, which makes parents crazy. They don't vibrate well, so the tone is just flat. For the money and their play, just get a shape sorter, xylophone and "work bench" rather than trying to put them all in one. On the up side, the colors are bright. The kids are drawn to it. They do pound away on it. Not broken yet. But as a developmental tool, not working.
