Off-road karts work best with two wheel drive. In sand or loose dirt, where a single wheel would often spin out, a live axle has both wheels turning at the same time, giving you twice the traction. Having a torque converter is ideal for climbing hills and inclines.

Torque Converters - Advantages

Compared to a centrifugal clutch, torque converters offer better acceleration from a stand still. They also allow karts to be geared for a higher top speed.

56-66

A torque converter is a simple automatic transmission that has a low and high gear. They are commonly found on go karts, ATV's, mini-bikes, and snowmobiles. The low gear is ideal for when you're going up hills or driving slowly, and the high gear lets you achieve top speed. They are also a good choice for stop and go riding.

How to install a torque converter?

  • Step 1: Componets in kit are layed out in front of machine.
  • Step 2: Remove old clutch kits
  • Step 3: Bolt bracket to the four standard tapped holes in the engine crankcase using four M8*25 screws. Bracket may be rotated up or dow if necessary.
  • Step 4: Break chain at proper length to go around sprocket on T.A.V. and final drive sprocket. Join chain by the master link. Move the engine forward or backward for correct tension.
  • Step 5: Place the spacer (provided with kit) on the crankshaft, to bring the driver clutch in line with the driven unit.
  • Step 6: Separate driver, place flat sided sheave on crankshaft. Slip belt over driven unit and over post of driver unit. Install 4 splined hub "D" outboard. (IMPORTANT: Be sure bronze idler bushing is in place on TAV 30-75. TAV 30-100 does not require bronze idler bushing.)
  • Step 7: Place other half of drive on crankshaft. Line up outer cover on the "D" part of the hub, and install retaining bolt and washer.

It works for a Coleman KT 196 but you should put a description in that it doesn’t use the plate because that doesn’t work on it and it doesn’t use the plastic guard that’s only for the bike unless there’s another one that you can buy that everything goes to it which I never seen especially on Amazon so maybe one of look into that besides, that is great I just wish I would’ve had the cover because I didn’t have one when I got the go kart to begin With. And there’s a pretty nice price on these, so you should detail that out..

Installed this in on my predator engine main bracket fit no issues only issue with this kit is the bolts are just a couple threads to big either cut cut it off and round out or buy other bolts with same threads

Worth every penny my kids have been having fun with their go kart all summer. I went from a clutch to this and won't look back.

I've gone through 2 of these in 2 years with my Coleman minibike. If you clean them periodically they perform better and last longer. I wish there was an American company that made a higher quality version that would last longer. Still better than a centripetal clutch especially for off road riding.

Torque converter shattered mid ride after a few rides on the street. Had to walk quad home 40 minutes. Don’t buy if you want to be stranded. And the first time I bought it came without main nut on driven.
