This cable is a perfect fit for my 82 Goldwing (GL1100). Also, the installation is quite easy; just disconnect the old cable from the back of your tach gauge, then undo the top bolt on the fuel pump -- located on the right side of the engine, and pull the cable free. Tape the old cable to the new one and use the old cable to pull the new one through and under the false tank. No need to remove the false tank at all. The job took about 15 minutes.Unfortunately, I discovered shortly after installation that the cable wasn't at fault; the tachometer itself is what was squealing. So now I have a spare.I got a laugh out of the warning sticker on the package, though. "WARNING: This product should be installed by a professional mechanic in accordance with your vehicle's factory shop manual and specifications. Improper installation could result in great bodily injury or death." Whoa, heavy.

I'm not sure if this cable is ready to install out of the package or not, but I did just that. No pre lube or cable grease/oil, and before it was 8 miles down the road it snapped and I now have no working tach.
