F150 differential cover gasket worked great. Why is silicone rubber used to make a gasket when a fiber gasket is available, cleaner to install and cheaper than silicone?

I put this on my 8.8 in my Mustang GT after a routine fluid change. It had been sealed with silicon from the factory. I cleaned everything spotless before I installed this gasket. I noticed the gasket had a fold near the bottom that left a crease right across one of the bolt holes. I was skeptical about that area but installed it anyway. I noticed the other day a small puddle under the differential cover. Sure enough....it leaks. This gasket just comes in a plastic bag so it can get bent, twisted, etc. Most gaskets like this come on a piece of cardboard with shrink wrap over them. Anyway......another gasket from NAPA this time, Fel-Pro with GOOD packing, $60 bucks more in fluid and anti-shudder, and no leaks. I strongly suggest you do not buy this due to the poor packaging and the poten tial to be compromised.

Changed the original non leaking formed gasket to replace the diff fluid, followed proper installation, now I have a slow leak.
