So I decided I would rebuild the solenoid on a starter for a 98 Accord and picked up this kit. It looked promising because it had the parts I needed to replace - the contacts and the plunger where the copper had worn down. The problem I had is the first contact was manufactured incorrectly. It was a mirror image of what it should have been for this starter. If you look at the pictures you can see how it did not line up correctly and would not work as is. Since it is copper I ended up modifying it by reversing the bend and then trimming the shape so that it would fit properly. The other contact and the plunger worked fine without modification. I used some of the nuts, but kept my original washers and plastic spacers because they had a better fit and finish than the ones provided in this kit and they were still in good condition.In summary, I did get my starter repaired with this kit using some of the parts, but I had to modify one of the parts to do so. Perhaps this kit works better on other car models as other reviews have suggested. I have seen other kits that have the first contact manufactured the other way around, and some kits that contain extra contacts so that you get both orientations. So this one isn't truly a universal kit since it only contains one orientation and most people won't know which orientation they need for the first contact.

Quality of this kit was great, sadly it does not have the correct parts to do my 1996 Toyota truck. It is a complete kit and, if it would have fit my application, would have taken care of all the weak as well as not so weak spots of the starter solenoid.

The left contact was different but everything else was the same. works great and for Under $13.00 dollars i would buy again.

I like this kit, just change out the parts and it made my old starter turn over like new again. Much better than having the starter changed out and dropping the exhaust.

I double checked the vehicle application and specs and yet still was a crap shoot for useable components. The copper contacts and wire holders fit fine. The plunger and gasket did not for my starter. So the main component (plunger) was to long and I couldn't use it.
