I am quite happy with this gas cap. It was a much cheaper alternative to what I would have had to pay at the local auto part stores, and it provided a tight, perfect seal on my 1998 Nissan Frontier XE pickup truck. Having the added tether on the gas cap has also kept me from losing the gas cap; I had a bad habit of setting the gas cap down on the bed of the truck while filling up the gas tank, and then forgetting to re attach the gas cap, and then drive off from the gas pump with the gas cap still on the truck bed, which then falls off the truck and lost forever. With the tether that is included with this gas cap, you are able to latch it to the vehicle to prevent that from happening. I would definitely recommend this to those seeking a quality, affordable replacement gas cap.

Honest review of MotoRad MGC-817T Tethered Fuel CapThis replaced a lost cap on my 1991 Ford Escort 4dr. Wagon. It was as described.Likes:Does tether it into placeGas cap fits securely and screws on easilyTether is long enoughFour body clips are provided in different diametersOnce the appropriate clip is in place, it does seem to keep the tethered cap attachedPrice was quite reasonableDislikes:I ended up having to use a set of channel locks to get the nearest fitting clip into the hole on the gas cap coverThe tether is much stiffer than I anticipatedMeh:Seems sturdy enough, but only time will tell.Hopefully this honest review helps someone decide about this product.

Original cap on my crv 2003 had a tiny crack on the rubber, after 20 years, got check engine light and code for the emission.Replaced it with this one and works fine, no check engine light. This was cheapest option and reliable.

I have a 2005 Honda CR-V and had been getting a check engine light that when I read the code mentioned "fuel system too lean". After taking it to a shop they suggested a new gas cap as my old one was starting to crack with age. Rather than spend $50 at the shop for them to put a new one on I figured it was an easy enough replacement I could do it myself. I bought this one and it works great! It definitely is a snugger fit and turning it on and off can take some strength, but I haven't gotten the error code since then.

Bought this to replace the original fuel cap that went bad on our 2015 Nissan Rogue. This aftermarket one failed within a month. Or maybe it never worked. It appears to have leaked from the beginning.Had the check engine light on (fuel EVAP leak). Reset the code. Came back on a day later. I could actually smell the gasoline fumes whenever I got out of the car and walked near the fuel tank after a drive. The MPG was significantly reduced, also a strong indication the gas cap was not sealing properly.I removed and twisted the cap back on several times, 3 clicks just like it says on the cap. Still leaked. Finally ordered a genuine OEM replacement off eBay. Problem solved. No more check engine light. No more leaks/fumes near the gas tank. The OEM part # for the Nissan is: 17251-4BA0B

My car got code P0443, after I did all the research and found out that the purge valve code was up and the Gas cap ($6.09) could be bad. So I bought the gas cab and purge valve to replace my bad one. After replacing it, i cleared all the code and drove 100 miles and the code never came back. I took my car to smog and passed right away. Thanks you for great product for such a great price.

Bought this because the strap broke on my OEM cap and it is normally easier to change the entire cap and strap then to fool with trying to stretch a new plastic strap on OEM cap. Also, a lot of the straps sold do not fit the OEM cap and are designed for aftermarket caps. The gas cap appears well built and is heavier than the OEM cap. I actually think the cap is better quality than the OEM cap. I would have given it 5 stars except for the fact the design of the strap makes it difficult to install and the weird design gets in the way when removing or installing the cap.First of all this cap did not come with new push pin. It would not be an issue except for the hole on the strap on this cap is too big for the OEM push pin. The strap is very low quality and I expect the thin plastic accordion style strap won't last for more than a few months or a year. The strap gets in the way when removing and installing the cap due to the design. You have to stretch the strap out and hold it out of the way when removing or installing the cap.For the price, you won't find a better cap but the strap and no 10 cent push pin included to install would stop me from purchasing a MotoRad cap in the future.
