Motorcraft SW5854 Door Jamb Relay was installed and worked great as it should! The original switch was too worn so the door ajar light stayed on and the chime was on all the time.

Installing this on my 2003 Navigator was tough but a lot of fun. The door latch assembly is an engineering puzzle. But it is a study in really good engineering. You have to remove the electric door lock assembly from the latch assembly. This is an "unlatch and rotate" procedure. You place a small flat blade screwdriver under the latch, pry up slightly and turn the lock assy to remove it. This allows clearance to rotate the door jamb relay 1/4 turn and remove it. The new one goes (back) in quick and easy. Same for the electric door lock. The OLD unit was gooey with old lube. Door works like new. Lights go out. Radio stays on when it should. Horn beeps once when it should. Lots of problems solved.

This was not as hard as I thought it was going to be to install and works perfectly a week in. It took 15 years for the first one to go out so I expect this to outlive the car.
