No surprises, I picked my size and it fit. Dark black real leather. Leather is thinner than I expected, but that probably makes them more comfortable than if the leather was thick. I'd prefer thicker/heavier though. As indicated in pictures, 5-pocket design is similar to standard jeans. Pant cuffs are unfinished as described, plenty long, inseam length as described. I'll wear cuffs for a while (retro-fashionably) turned up before finishing. Leather surface is matte, not glossy. "Satin" lining goes only to knees. Some smell, but it's the common smell of new leather, not overwhelming.
