These new spindles worked absolutely perfect on my JD LA115. It's running like a new mower now.My problem was I've always gone above and beyond to take care of my power lawn equipment.. well everything I own for that matter. As far as oil and filter, fuel and air filter's, spark plugs etc.. never gave the zirk grease fittings the same attention. Not sure why? They actually call for more frequent service than the motor (every 25 hours vs 50 hours). New spindles and hit all the grease fittings with my new grease gun and this thing is running like new! Feels like I gained power steering too. These spindles worked great.. keep grease in them (I use a good synthetic now) and they'll run like a top.Tip: If changing out your spindles go ahead and get a set of the deck reinforcement rings offered here on Amazon. Believe me or not I guarantee at some point you'll be glad you did. Or more likely you'll avoid problem's and never realize how glad you are you used them.. which is a good thing!Anyway.. These spindles are working great for me and healed my John Deere from some wobbling and neglected bearings and has her running like new....I'm going to add: I just drilled the soft metal of these spindles through and adding the reinforcement rings went with some longer hardened grade 5 bolts with the same grade nylon inserted lock nuts and it worked out perfect. Rather thread into a hardened nut than the soft alloy of these spindles. Bring the bolt up from the bottom (nut on top of the deck) to avoid the grass and crud build-up on the remaining bolt threads.

My John Deere D130 was screaming so I ordered the GY21098 spindles. They came with all needed parts for installation. If your deck is rusty in the middle, order the rings to help support the spindles. Fortunately mine was in good shape so I didn't need the rings. While I had everything apart I cleaned & painted. The yellow equipment spray paint from WalMart is cheap and matches the John Deere yellow perfectly. Impact Wrench made it a breeze to remove the old & install the new spindles. Make sure to fill them with grease before replacing the deck. It takes a lot of pumps until you see the grease start to ooze. The idler pulleys were wobbly so I replaced both of them. Tractor is definitely a lot quieter. I highly recommend these spindles and matching idler pulleys.

The spindle assemblies I replaced on my LA110 had been in operation at least 15 years. The bearings finally gave way last Fall so everything had to be replaced. It's not a easy job man-handling the mower dock around to work on, but once I had the deck out, and blades removed, it was easy to remove the old assemblies and install the new ones. the spindles seem to be OEM and fitted to the deck with no problems. Note that the assemblies are not threated to accept the bolts that hold them to the deck. The assembly appear to be made from a soft aluminum/magnesium alloy, while the bolts are harden steel and designed to cut the threads into the housing when you install them. I recommend that you pre-thread these before installing on the deck to ease the process. Also, do not forget to grease the spindle assemblies after you have installed them and before use.

Unboxed: They spin smoothly. Looks like the threads on the shaft are different than the OEMs. I later confirmed. One of the grease zerks is ... loose. To the touch it was wiggling. I unscrewed it with my fingers. Huh. Well, I can locktite red that sucker in place, right? Sure.Installation: Pretty straightforward. Using the rolling thread bolts from the OEM parts they secured to the deck no problem. I did treat the grease zerk that was loose with locktite red. It sealed up nicely and tightened in place with a 7mm socket. Yay. Time to grease these baddies.I emptied about 2/3 tube of grease in the first spindle before I saw grease coming out the top seal. Nothing oozed out the bottom seal.I proceeded to grease the second spindle. I emptied the remaining 1/3rd tube, then drained an entire second tube before grease came out the top. Huh. That's strange. As I was reinstalling and leveling the deck, that's when I noticed the second spindle had oozed nearly 1/2 a tube of grease out the bottom of the spindle. I was able to salvage some of that grease and re-pack the tube. But yikes. If there's that big of a hole out the bottom that makes me a bit uneasy. I hope it's not missing a seal or a bearing.Leveled the deck, took a test mow, and everything was great. We'll see how long these last. I've got 6 years of abuse on my original OEM spindles which have hit everything from concrete septic tank cover stands and tree stumps to hunks of granite the kids have left in the yard. The old spindles were rattling or bent. These are at least are spinning nicely and don't make near the amount of noise. The nuts for the blades aren't compatible with the OEMs. So don't get any ideas you'll have spares laying around that can be used if you drop one in an unfortunate spot. For the price it was worth the experiment.

Better price than the John Deere Tractor dealer in Daytona (the dealer is a way better price than anyplace near my home) and I didn't have to drive 2 hours to get them. These came with new nuts and washers (blade, pulley), the dealer parts do not. I through-bolt mounted them with 1/4" SS bolts, washers, and lock-nuts. I did not drill out or tap the mounting holes on the spindles. I could have drilled them out to use heavier bolts but chose to keep as much of the aluminum intact as possible. I am trying the deck reinforcing rings on the top side of the deck (which are also available on AMAZON). I hope this will keep the deck/spindles from flexing/wobbling and junking out the blades and spindles. 4th set of spindles in 6 years on 2 acres of fairly heavy mowing. The John Deere 42" mower deck is a sadly flimsy piece of junk that is no better than a cheap mower deck. John Deere should be ashamed.
