I got this 10,000 btu heater because my 20,000 btu version was needed elsewhere. Honestly I don’t need a thermostat for my application and the extra btu count would be wasted as well. I just need a heater for a small sunroom and I’m only using the heater while we’re in the room and it happens to be cold. I live in Florida so it’s not all that often I need a heater.Anyway this heater works very well just like other Mr Heater products. The efficiency seems good and the output is just fine for my small room. I don’t think you would want to use this model for a large area unless you had some really good insulation and supplemental air circulation. My only real gripe is that you need to get a regulator hose to use this heater and you might need some additional parts depending on how you install it. Just be aware that a trip to the hardware store is likely in your future once you get this thing. Other than that, I’m happy.

I purchased this heater to use in my RV to heat the main front area at night, because the wife says the main heater in the RV is too noisy when she is trying to sleep in the main bedroom. I was looking for the smallest propane heater I could find & this one is slightly larger than I thought it would be, but it'll work fine. In testing it puts out a lot of heat fir it's size, so I think it night I'll have to set the temp below the 'low' setting. This was mentioned by another reviewer, and you can turn the knob between the low & pilot setting to get a much smaller flame. I would have liked a thermostat controlled unit but none of the small heaters have one. The next larger size heater (i.e. 20,000 BTU) has an optional blower available, but not the small 10,000 btu unit even though on one of the pictures it shows one. I'm going to mount a pair of adjustable speed computer type fans on the top of it to move the hot air towards the center of the room. A single fan at high speed would work, but 2 fans at half speed will be much quieter at night. Looking forward to trying this out in a couple of months.

I bought it two months ago, used it for supplemental heat, perhaps two days out of the week. It shut off so I assumed the room was depleted of oxygen. This being a drafty old house, I waited one week and then tried again. It ran in low heat for several minutes, then a "click" sound, and the flame was lost. Now the pilot will not light. I would suspect a bad thermocouple, but keep in mind- this is just two months old and not used enough for anything to get dirty. Also, the elevation here is 2200 feet, which should be ok.Previously I had purchased the "Mr. Heater Vent-Free 20,000 BTU Blue Flame Propane Heater" because it had a thermostat. Well, the thermostat didn't work at all, so I returned it and got this unit. Two bad units from Mr. Heater. If I could obtain a replacement thermocouple I could repair/ or troubleshoot this very easily. And if Mr Heater would tell me that part number of the thermocouple only, not the assembly, I might change this from one star to two stars. Also, this was easy to hook up, easy to find a 15 foot hose with regulator, easy to find a NPT to flair fitting adapter, easy to assemble and operate. I just wish it still worked.

Husband has this in his little hunting cabin. Mounted easily on the wall. It's ducted outside for the gas. Works very well.

I used it for a non-heater glass wall sunroom with no insulation or anything in the winter. The sunroom is 12x13feet. It gets very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. I used it as an idea to make the sunroom a nice place for a Christmas tree as the backyard is forest and very scenic with all of the snow. However, the sunroom had a temperature of 38 degrees. Nobody can enjoy Christmas with that temp, opening gifts and all. With this Propane heater at the corner of the room, it worked so well. Had it on full blast and about 1 hour, the room temp was a pleasant 70 degrees. I cracked a small window just because of the propane fumes got too heavy. Once it was aired out, it was perfect. I turned the heater down to medium and it was all good. Had used a Walmart 20lb tank and it lasted 6 hours, and that’s with constant running.
