The disk knife is superior compared to the flat blade.Sharp parts are covered with smart protection when the tool is not in use.

Tool was easy to set and use. However, the blade maybe shape it still takes turns to cut through the material

Material: fabricProject: the viral TikTok hexies but I'm going to make a coat instead.Would I recommend: ABSOLUTELY! But I do think for cutting lots of fabric circles over 5" it would be easier with something to trace and a standard rotary cutterCons: Fabric doesn't have much structure to it so it isn't going to glide seamlessly through the fabric in a perfect circleI still at to go back with scissors in a few places - however, it is still tremendously easier than just using scissorsTIPS:-You're going to need to go through more than one layer at a time to make this worth the effort. I laid all six of my fabrics on top of each other and cut through them all at the same time. Granted, I did have to go back and do some clean up with my scissors a bit more with this many layers, but it was pretty easy to do-pulling works better than pushing, I cut mine in 6 moves, each time cutting just a small curve around the circle-I put some weights around my fabric to help keep everything flat-I kept my pressure over the center bar, but my hand resting in the dial above the blade and that worked best-take caution, I intuitively kept picking it up upside down if I wasn't paying attentionOverall:A great product! I don’t think the finicky-ness has anything to do with the quality and everything to do with circles being a difficult shape. This definitely saved my hands and I cut 102 out in maybe 1-2 hours of very leisurely working

I contacted Mr. Pen via e-mail to ask about replacement blades. They told me the following:The blade used in the rotary circle cutter is indeed an 18mm blade. Replacement blades of the same size are widely available and can be used with this cutter.Based on the product details, the rotary circle cutter includes an extra blade for convenience. However, if you need additional replacement blades, compatible 18mm rotary blades can typically be used. These blades are commonly available online and in craft stores. And, they weren't very expensive on Amazon. I ordered them along with the cutter. Now, I just need to take the time to get familiar with this! Thanks Mr. Pen. I love your products

Got this cutter just as a quick tool to cut clean circles in some thin foam board. That was it. But upon getting it out of the packaging this thing either didn’t have the part or it fell out during opening; the part in question is the entire tiny plastic axle piece that holds the circular blade in place while you rotate the arm to make the cut. I was in a rush to finish the project so as you can see in the second photo I just snipped off a little bit of ⅛†steel wire I had that fit in the slot well enough to hold the blade so I could finish the cut I needed. But immediately after that was done, this thing goes in the trash and I’m already shopping for a better compass cutter. Even had the blade axle not been missing I encountered other issues such as indistinct and barely-readable ruler markers. All well that it comes with both metric and imperial, but the imperial markings are basically just along each inch—the half, quarter and eighths are all the same length! And since they aren’t printed in color, just mold-stamped in the plastic of the extension arm, it’s practically a wild guess or an infuriating session of squinting and counting markers to make sure you’ve set it properly. And even then, I don’t believe this was ever properly calibrated; I cut what was supposed to be a 5 ½†diameter disc of foam, meaning the armature only had to extend 2 ¾†out (2 ¾†+ 2 ¾†radii equals a total diameter of 5 ½†as desired). But the finished disc is wobbly and is more like 5 ⅜†at its widest point. Totally useless junk. Spend more and get a better tool. Preferably one with metal and proper visible measurement markings and no mystery tiny missing crucial parts.

The product is well designed and with safety in mind. Both the pin and the cutting disc are protected until you need to expose them to do the cutting. However, as other customers complained, if you keep going over the same circle trying to cut all the way, it will wander and start cutting next to the previous cut. I needed to cut a large arc of circle and this problem did not bother me, but trying to see how it worked on a full circle, it was disappointing. But since the price is right, I'll keep it.

I should have spent more on a different model or different type of tool. I've had better luck in the past using compasses with extensions that could hold an X-Acto knife blade and I was skeptical of this rotary blade. From the picture, I thought the body was metal. It is not. The slide ruler shows the distance of the blade from the point, but not the size of the circle you will be making, so you'll have to do some math. If this had a dual function, that would make sense. Since the sole function of this is to cut circles, why not show on the ruler what size circle we'll be cutting? The markings on the ruler are in inches and centimeters, but the inches are in tenths, not eighths/sixteenths like a regular Imperial ruler. So that is also frustrating. Finally, it took me three attempts to cut a circle out of a thin sheet of plastic printer transparency, and it still did not come out even. During the second attempt the blade fell out and I had to figure out how to piece the whole thing back together. All in all, I'm pretty disappointed with this product and I feel that two stars is generous, but I did eventually get a circle cut. However, I will be investing in a different tool before I attempt to cut a hole in my bass drum head.

Very sharp blades. I'm using it to cut fabric circles and it's been working well so far. Easy to use and has been the best tool for a project I've been working on!

I'm using to it cut fabric for some machine embroidery projects. It works great and much happier with the results than hand cutting. Only thing is because the needle is off center on the device, you get slightly different sized circles when you go clockwise than counterclockwise -- therefore you should only move the blade in one direction. I noted close to a 1/4 inch difference in size -- which for my projects was a big deal. But once I figured that out, I'm quite happy.
