These 'Chicago' fasteners worked well to tie our IKEA book shelves together. You can see three of them in the picture. They are the perfect size, about 1 1/4" x 5 mm. Perfect for 3/4" thick shelving/cabinets. I can't believe these aren't more available, but I looked all over. These are what you need to tie cabinets or shelves together.
