I wish it had some holes on the sides.Sometimes the tea gets cold because, from a distance, I can't see when the candle burns out.I have to get up and go over to the teapot and physically lift it up to see if the candle is still burning. Of course, that's certainly not a big deal but a more leisurely experience when drinking tea would be preferable, as tea-time is my relaxation time.Otherwise, it's very heavy-duty and my cast iron teapot looks great on it.

No more cold tea! I use 2 tealights in it and it keeps my tea hot for hours! It is heavy, conducts heat well and is pretty. Plus a great price. Since it does conduct heat, I use a coaster under it. I use it with my Japanese cast iron teapot.

Great for keeping my little glass teapot hot, when I have several cups in the evening. Wish I would have known years ago. It is actually a functional piece.

Takes a while to warm the cast iron up by itself, but once you take the time it tends to just keep the tea lukewarm. Mostly for aesthetic purposes- the beautiful red color and light shooting out from the sides makes it a great room accent.

I love this thing. It really does get hot and with a few candles this item radiates heat in a cold winter room.
