This pad makes it very easy to make circles or squares or triangles when you’re using the 3-D pen. Not a must have but almost. The filament does not stick to this like it was something else.

Item arrived quickly, as described without incident. Check measurements. It's smaller than it looks on the website. Useful addition for a 3D pen.

Description: It comes sealed in a plastic bag, not the most “giftable†appearance. There is no instruction but you shouldn’t need much anyways. The size is nice and allows a nice variety of designs (picture for reference). It takes practice to use the pen and get a good consistency. Was it needed? Not necessarily. Some straignt lines and circles are easier to do freehand. I’m glad I have it though. I have a 3D printer but enjoy doing some more artistic things freehand with the myint pen. I wouldn’t recommend this pad for a kid, they might get frustrated and prefer not to use it, although it does give them a dedicated surface to protect other things from the heat. I would recommend it for a hobbyist adult/teen. The lines are more of a guide than an injection mould. If you try to push it in, you’ll get blobs at the intersections. The freepad is a joke piece of plastic and doesn’t add value, I have not used it.Pro: The silicone is very nice and smooth and easy to clean the filament off of.Con: The first one got lost on it’s way and they had to send another so I would not suggest gifting for something time-limited.I personally didn’t have trouble seeing the lines but young/old people might. I just feel the side first to know what side I’m on and follow the design side I know I’m on. I think lighting can help with that too.The pad is floppy so you’ll want it on a sturdy surface.3D Tip: You can use your pen tip when its hot but not extruding to mold your piece and smooth out blobs on firm pieces (or use a soldering iron/woodburner).

This is a nicely textured mat for using a 3-D Pen, but it is not very helpful for guiding lines and fillers. It seemed to complicate any attempts to follow stencils by interrupting the fluency of the lines. It caused us to go back over outlines multiple times, resulting in wasted material and somewhat choppy designs. We use it now only as a surface barrier.
