This part was the exact part I needed based on the fact that the thermostat couldn’t send signal to light my entire Direct Vent NG Napoleon Fireplace. I used the recommended scouring pad to clean entire assembly but it still wouldn’t light the entire base of the fireplace. I called a Napoleon service company which confirmed this part was faulty based on electrical tester ($149 service charge). I ordered this part plus a complete pilot assembly in case I broke anything. We’ll, I didn’t need the part but I’m keeping the assembly since NYS wants to get rid of gas appliances by 2030 which is another story. My fireplace was installed in 2009.I turned my Gas to off, removed wool embers and unscrewed this electric part. I vacumned the entire surface, too. I gently used the wire brush on the parts.Anyway, I assembled my tools and removed all the screws in the bottom of the fireplace, BUT I found I only needed to remove two screws on either side of the existing pilot assembly. A video I watched said there’s enough room to unscrew the two assembly screws and tilt it to unscrew this part. I studied the part and how it would need to be unscrewed then put my arm in removed and replaced the part.I went down the cellar and turned on the gas. I pushed the wall thermostat up. I could smell the gas coming into the unit. I closed the glass door then proceeded to hit the igniter button with the fireplace to ON, not pilot. I played around with it then reopened the door and rubbed the parts with the dry green scouring pad since it was sparking but not working with my new replacement part. Well after a few attempts it worked. I let it burn a few minutes to remove the moisture off the glass, then I turned the control to pilot, since I had to replace all the logs and insert the new embers.I am so exited to fix this fireplace myself! The Napoleon approved Service Company wanted to charge me an additional $450 to repair the fireplace with their parts but I was too mad and only paid the service $149 call fee. They wanted $475 more to hook up my new remote control that I never used.On 1/11/23, I added additional images showing the interior of the fireplace, with the screws removed. I had to take off the front metal (looks like a fence) but I later learned it was only TWO screws which were needed to be removed, to change out the thermopile.I added the image with the blue flame to show you what it looked like BEFORE and funny it was the same after replacing the thermopile. I stated that I took the green scouring pad (not a kitchen one) and rubbed the surfaces again to remove any finger oils or dirt that may have filled the other pieces in the pilot assembly. I then increased the wall thermostat sending out request for bigger flame. Viola! The last picture shows the flame filling the embers and firebox.

I have a Napoleon brand gas fireplace that is over twenty years old and the Thermopile Thermogenerator finally went bad. I ordered this replacement and it is a perfect fit.

I ordered this in September, got it in October and my fireplace is doing the same thing again. Yes, it is half the price but if it only lasts 3 months compared to 10 years (original part)... I would rate 0 stars but it did get me 3 months of heat before I lost heat again at the coldest part of the year.

We had the original unit still installed in our gas electric start fireplace from the first owner who installed it. We have had 2 different serviceman come look at the fireplace to give recommendations. All of them stating full replacement. Since then we replaced the burner pan which helped a little. After lots of research we purchased this component and watched a few YouTube videos on how to swap it.This really only took about 20-25 mins to replace and that was because we were novice and were scared we would set off something or make our house collapse (none of which happened). We were cautious none the less.We have had two instances where we thought we might have messed up as the remote wouldn’t start once we replaced this piece. Both were other things. Batteries in controller and pilot light going out. Would buy again but hope we don’t have too.

This was an exact fit replacement for my gas fireplace for a little less cost than buying from the manufacturer of my fireplace. Worked perfectly to fix an issue I had with the pilot light and/or flame going out randomly. It was a little tough to get the old one out but that is due to the fireplace design not having enough room for large hands. Once you have the old one out the install is simple to do. If your napoleon fireplace is going out randomly either the pilot or the flame while using, I would recommend this part to fix it.

At my local fireplace store, this thing was like $150; insane.Pain to install, but that's not the product's fault. Worked perfect right away, nice having my fireplace working again.
