I recently hung two new, properly primed and painted 36" screen doors for a porch/deck project. The framing was square, plumb and level. The doors, especially the pressure treated one sagged so much that even after some major scraping of a few spots on the deck boards to clear the door swing, it sagged further. I mistakenly purchased the brace for 30" doors (Stanley #748264) and realized it was too short to do a proper job, and ordered this one. For about 50 cents more, it is a more superior product. Heavier gauge rods, nicer finish, very beefy screws. Installed it took about 4 -6 turns to raise the lower edge significantly enough to fix the problem. If it sags further I have a lot more thread to tighten up to compensate. I think commercially made screen doors sag no matter how well they're made, it's just how it is. The manufacturer won't even communicate about them, so my advice is if you buy a screen door you should plan on this being an necessary add-on. Doesn't look too bad though it does break up the visual lines of the door, but I can live with that way better than having an annoying, scraping door. The shorter Stanley brace found a home on a less important screen door where it also worked, but I found this to be a far better product.

Well worth it! Our 15 year old screen door was sagging bad to the point where it was starting to rub the floor bad. You had to lift if to open it up bad. Harry homeowner here so the last thing I wanted to do is mess with hinges and such. Called the original deck installer and he started talking $700 for a new custom door. Screw that. Knew about turnbuckles but never thought highly about them for some reason. Something about a metal rod workaround that wasn't appealing to me. Let me tell you I had this on in 5 minutes. Screen door wood is soft so I was able to use ratchet screw driver to install it no problem. Grabbed an adjustable wrench and chair and then took another 5 minutes to tighten the turnbuckle. Raised it until the door came of the deck floor. Let it then sit overnight so the wood could straighten back a bit. Sat down again and gave it another 5 minutes tightening the turnbuckle. This closed the 1-2" gap at the top of the left door side. A little touch up white paint on the door around the turnbuckle when your done because you will scratch the door paint a bit when tightening it down. Now the door pretty much swings open on its own. All the gaps are closed back and it cost me $10 versus $700. One of my best buys ever.

Quality is rather cheap, kind of little metal, but installing is easy. You get the wood screws with it, so thats good. I’d buy it again. Make sure you measure your door. So you get the right lenght.

I had a sagging wooden screen door, that was almost impossible to open and close. I discovered on Youtube that a turnbuckle could solve the problem by pulling the door into its original square shape again. I'm a woman with some DIY experience, but by no means an expert, and I found the turnbuckle easy to install and it did the trick, the door opens and closes smoothly again.

I use these turnbuckles to fix a couple of wooden doors here in Peru that I think are older than me. They were dragging on the floor and I cut the bottoms off of them with a circular saw. A few months later the doors were dragging on the floor again. I knew the only way to fix them was to put a turnbuckle on the backs of the doors. Now the doors work great, no more dragging on the floor. I know these turnbuckles are only suggested for screen doors, but they work great on heavier wooden doors, as well.

Right-hand-threaded rod / end of turnbuckle was not well made and would barely thread. Left-hand-threaded end was fine. The wood screws provided were square drive -not straight slot or Phillips head - so choice is to buy a new tool or replace the screws.—-Revised to 3 stars because I was able to make it work, and it works very well. Drive type for screws should have been clear, and I shouldn’t have had to spend 15 minutes cleaning up the threads before I installed though.

I used this for a wooden patio gate and it is working so much better than the frustrating over engineered "anti-sag gate kits" they sell for this purpose. Installed this in about 5 minutes and it looks great. I'm buying another one to replace the anti-sag kit on the other gate. Wish I had known about this solution sooner.

My vinyl screen door sagged during the first week. Put on the turnbuckle and it has held firm since. Great product and not too visible to harm the look of the door.

I bought three of these. They are very solid, even overdimensioned for the job of bracing a sagging door. Fairly easy to thread the rod into the turnbuckle. My only gripe is that the turnbuckle doesn't take a metric size wrench. I was able to tighten it with a 12mm open ended wrench but the fit was approximate. Maybe an 11mm wrench would have been better but I don't have one, 11mm is an unusual size.

Put it on the cheapest wood screen door they sold at home hardware. Been on there for bout 2 yr now and door needs no adjustment. Nice surprise it works as advertised.

Product was clearly used. Packaging terrible, dirty and ripped open. Central screw part bent. When screwed into the door two of the screws just sheared off, could not withstand any pressure.

Only place I could find this simple device for our classic, yet inexpensive screen door that sagged. Love that old-fashioned door and had feared we needed to trash it. Installation so easy.
