Working on a 2000 Escalade, the transition year between 8.6†and the 8.5â€. My diff blew so I pulled the ring and measured 8.6 so I bought a new carrier. That’s when I learned about the housing difference. Long story short, these bearings allow you to fit a newer, larger bearing shaft 8.6†carrier into the older 8.5†axle housing.
