Review: NEIKO 02488A 3/8" Drive Universal 6-Point Metric Socket Set — A Versatile Marvel for MechanicsRating: ââââ (4/5)Let's talk tools, shall we? In the sprawling universe of socket sets, NEIKO's 02488A model with its 3/8" drive and 18-piece set stakes its claim as a reliable companion for any wrench-wielding warrior—professional or amateur.Versatility Meets FunctionalityFirst off, the six-point universal design is a gem. This feature is like having a Swiss Army knife in your toolbox. These sockets are universal, meaning they can tackle an array of fastener types. It's that versatility that makes this set shine, especially if you find yourself frequently switching between tasks that involve different types of nuts and bolts.Metric Means BusinessThis isn't just any socket set; it's a metric socket set. Now, that might not be a big deal for some, but for the purists and professionals out there, this is a key selling point. The precision that comes with metric measurements is indispensable when you're looking for that perfect fit.Quality and DurabilityEach socket is constructed to endure, fabricated from premium chromium-vanadium steel. The result is a durable, long-lasting piece that you can count on. After all, nobody wants a tool that'll give up the ghost halfway through a job. With the NEIKO 02488A, that's a worry you can safely set aside.Practicality in a BoxThe set comes in a neatly organized, hard-shell case. Simple, yet effective, this is an understated feature that streamlines your workflow by keeping your tools readily accessible and in order.Room for ImprovementAlright, it's time to address the elephant in the room—this set isn't as expansive as some others on the market. With 18 pieces, you've got a decent range, but there might be moments when you wish you had just one or two more sizes at your disposal.VerdictIf you're on the hunt for a dependable, versatile, and enduring metric socket set, the NEIKO 02488A could be right up your alley. While it doesn't boast the largest variety, what it does offer is quality and dependability. For many, that's more than enough. In summary, it's a toolset that mostly hits all the right notes, and I would absolutely recommend it for mechanics and DIY enthusiasts alike. Happy wrenching!

What a surprise, the socket set was delivered early. Also, I was pleasantly surprised that the plastic case the sockets was of nice quality, with hinges and clasps that were not just molded in. The case has the sockets closely arranged, just like I do with the old ones in my tool box. I’m going to keep them in this case. The sockets cover all the small to larger nuts and bolt that iWork on and then some. They do not skip any sizes. The size marking are stamped plus also painted or later marked in large numbers. I was doing a simple brake job, and tried some of the sockets. All performed well, inch torquing the wheel lugs to 100 pound feet. The ratchet is really nice too, with 90 teeth. That was a surprise . I’m going to consider other Neiko tools after buying this set. I should add I have a lot of auto tools collected and used over six decades. These are definitely nice. They appear to be at least as good as Gearwench, Teckton, or Icon.

If your a tool snob then move on. But of your a backyard mechanic or anyone who wants a COMPLETE socket set from 1/4 to 1 and 6mm to 24mm this is for you. Extreamly complete, and we suspect these come from the same factory a Kobalt tools. All sockets feature painted colors (red and blue) and sizes for quick identification AND stamped numbers as well in case the paint wears off. You get 2 of each size one deep well and one shallow. You also get a breaker bar, extention, a very nice 90 point wrench and a universal extention. True they are not as th8n as Snapon, Mac or Williams but are equal to Husky and Kobalt. They also are not as fluted as the professional tools but you get a full set at the cost of a rachet. The case is very nice and well made, with easy size identification and locks the sockets pretty well in their place. Not everyone needs a full set of sockets but when you do you will have them. The case fits in a professional tool box so thats greater than 20" deep. This is my third set, i like them so much i bought 2 other sets for two young friends going into trades. Check out the 1/4, 1/2 and 1/2" impact sets as well they are everything you need for sockets. Simply awesome and i can tell you they are not cheaply made and hold up to any abuse you throw at them.

Professional grade at a very reasonable price. They been taking a licking and keep on ticking for me! They don’t cam out or round out of the Allen bolts. They grip extremely well, even under extreme pressure.I’m gonna buy more sets as gifts.
