These boot covers have finalized my waterproofing suit. They construction of the boot covers seem to be pretty sturdy, but still able to fold them up into a fairly small package. They cover almost all of my calf, which is plenty high enough to work with waterproof pants. The back is a thick velcro strip, which seals up nicely. The toes are reinforced, so they should hold up for shifting gears. I thought they would be like putting your feet in an enclosed bag, but the bottom of the heal is exposed, with an elastic band the holds the boot down using the arch of your foot. The bottom half of the boot where the balls of your feet has a thicker, rubber pad, so your feet don't slip when your foot is planted. I have been through several downpours and my feet have stayed completely dry, and I usually wear tennis shoes. When, or if, these ever wear out, I will definitely get another pair of these. Long story short, they pack well and keep you dry when you need them.

I do not ride in the rain much, so I get to use them a few times a year. I wear a size 11 and doc martins to ride. These fit me well and have kept me dry in the rain and traffic. they fold up pretty nice, I like that since i carry all my rain gear in my saddle bag in case i get caught in it.

They work!! I have rode to work 4 times in the rain so far since I had these and my feet where DRY and I wouldn't say warm but it does help in the cooler weather. The coldest temp was 43 with rain (all the way there) over my hiking boots and after the 27.7 mile ride to work my feet where dry and comfy!!! Yes the are snug around the top so if you have big calves you might go with 1 size bigger, yes the shoe area might be big but that shouldn't be no big deal.

STAY AWAY FROM THESE. GIVEN THE TERRIBLE QUALITY AND SUB-PAR CUSTOMER SERVICE YOU ARE BETTER SPENDING YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE.I've been using these boot covers for nearly a year now and I have two main issues with them:1. They are of marginal quality. After just a few times of wearing them the elastic band under the heel on one of the covers came loose and was dangling. I cut it off for fear of it getting tangled on something on the bike. I do notice that the cover catches the wind more now that it is missing. More importantly though, after less than a year of use, the boot covers began to tear at the seam that holds the velcro. This issue leads me to my next problem.2. Nelson-Rigg customer service is a pathetic joke. I called when the elastic band broke on the bottom of the cover and they asked that I send them back to be inspected. Given Houston winters can be wet I asked if it would be possible to send a replacement in advance so I was not without boot covers. They kindly would do so but I'd be charged a fee in order to get an advanced pair. Keep in mind their idea of an advanced pair is I buy them online directly from them and when they decide to replace the defective pair they would refund the money (minus their 5% fee of course). The same issue occurred when I called about obtaining a warranty replacement after the seems started splitting. I would need to send in the covers for them to inspect them before they would replace them. If I wanted an advanced pair to use in the interim, I had to fork over the costs (which is fine by me) but once they decided to replace them, they would charge me a fee and refund the purchase.STAY AWAY FROM THESE. Pretty good boots.I use them when riding on my motorcycle. Def keeps my feet dry.Warning: I'm a size 11 wide, they just fit, and only over my Converse lows.Very narrow. They do velcro up above my calfs and have ribbed bottoms. All in all, not bad.

I have used these covers a couple of times now and WOW! what a difference, I love my dry feet. I keep them stored at my work place with my rain suit for those evening comutes in the rain. a must have if you are a motorcycle commuter or planning a long trip. easy to put on and they work.

Unfortunately, after just one winter of (2012-2013) light use bicycle commuting (last year I was working from home) I pulled out my boot covers and found that the right boot had:* cracks in the sole (in the back where you insert your shoe) - the reinforced stitching had made small holes that must have degraded the plastic/rubber.* and the sole and boot fabric had become separated for about 2 inches where the sole attaches on the left/inside (as you put it on - the right side has the reflector stripe.)Either of these problems could be a normal wear issues but together they point to poor design, materials and construction and reflect badly on the Nelson Rigg brand. Customer service offered a 10% discount (from their full retail price of $39.95) on a new pair (with the same flaws?) - I'll revert to my "Villager" or "Adventurer" overshoes since they are both still in good shape and I can walk in them once I reach my destination - these covers are just half covers so they collect snow/dirt/water.
