These spoon are stamped stainless steel. The shearing of the metal plate leaves the edges rough. The spoons are polished but the edges are not smoothed first so the rough side are just polished rough. I find the spoons to be smooth enough and not have sharp edges. If the roughness of the sides bothers one, just sand the edges to your satisfaction. That is what I did, start with about 220 grit, progress to 320 then to 500 and presto very smooth edges! I have rated the four stars for the pattern, and value. A last thought: the metal that can survie the spamping process cannot be too thick or hard. Therefore these spoons can be bent fairly easily, but I do not care about that deficiency. One would just buy more at this price. Over all a inexpensive alternative to lost utensils. Enjoy them!

These are a great buy. I needed more tea spoons because the kids like to take them and play in the dirt and leave them in the grass or the garage. This set is perfect, they are strong, they shine, they are attractive, no problems washing them in the dishwasher, and it's a good size package for the price.

Decent quality for the price. My daughter just needed spoons. Apparently they disappear frequently. I am guessing its her husband who takes the spoons to eat his lunch and never brings them back. Probably throws them in the garbage or leaves them in the sink at work. though I am no detective, I am not really suspicious of a spoon thief coming into the house and stealing them, nor do I think the dishwasher eats them. It is just one of those mysteries that will never actually be solved. Kind of like the sock that disappears in the washer... Anyway, I got these and she likes them well enough. Life is good.
