I drew a template using the back of the box with a pencil. I scored wallboard with a utility knife. Then drilled a hole at each corner. Took my drywall saw and popped out the pieçe. It attached really well, as did outlet and cover. Saved me an electrician fee.

These make adding an outlet or installing one where you cant affix it to the stud easy. Its not the BEST one of these type Ive ever used in terms of sturdiness and getting the ears in positionhowever its still fine, and once installed it is holding. Even if there is some risk of a little twisting orthe box being out of square - given the nature and adjustable top and bottom of an outlet or switch there is no danger your device will be crooked, so thats sort of a "problem" in name only. I have installed several of these and they result in a sturdy enough and attractive final product. If youre looking to install something in a heavy duty, commercial, or industrial setting, you may want to look at beefier options.

Installing it was a breeze, box has ample space for excess wire, and the built in clamps for NM wires is an added bonus. Overall quality seems great too.

I've installed a handful of these and they are by far one of the better priced and accessible items on Amazon in this industry. At the tome of review it is $1.99, and worth every penny.Very happy. Installs as expected, good price, fast delivery. A perfect product.

Box is just fine. The ears will protrude past a standard size face plate. Trim before installing if stnd cover is used. Wall thickness. 13/16" max. Some plaster walls are thicker than this. Fast install. Sufficiently firm/sturdy.

I was just able to fit a gfi and pigtail in this ebox. It is strong and solid, but I wish it could be bigger.I ordered 3 individual eboxes, but it took so long to arrive, I decided to order another 3 individuals to see if I could get anything done on my spring break. I can only speculate as to why ordering three individually is only a little more than half the cost of buying a three pack- generally multipacks have a better per item price. If I could be given the clarity that there might be more timely shipping or better packaging for the multipacks, I would definitely have paid the higher price. The individual electrical boxes arrived in a ripped package envelope, but all the items were still there, somehow.

Love these they are WAY better than the blueys from the big boxes. Helps being able to just jab a new outlet wherever I want.

These plastic boxes are UL but not CSA listed (that I could see). There is a hole for a ground bolt but no hardware or wires. HOWEVER I am using them to install wired network jacks, not electrical outlets, and for that they are great. These are made of very sturdy PVC and I have no concerns about their durability. They are reasonably deep and have four compliant wire holes/retainers.

I used to be able to purchase similar electrical boxes from my local hardware stores but they stopped selling them years ago which was disappointing. These Boxes are UL Approved but do not have CSA which may be why they are not sold by retailers in Canada.Metal boxes are OK but they are tricky to cut out due to the sides not being flat with bump outs. The metal boxes are also smaller inside because the top and bottom back is tapered. These Newhouse boxes are much easier to install because the boxes are a perfect rectangle. The top, bottom and sides are perfectly straight and flat with no bumps outs. The boxes are also rectangular inside. They have square corners and are deeper than the Thomas and Betts metal old work boxes. These Newhouse Boxes are easier to install thanks to the flat edges, roomier inside and cheaper that the metal old work boxes at my local hardware stores. Very happy with these boxes.Highly Recommend ... I will order them again!

These are nice boxes overall. You're definitely not going to find these at a box store in Canada, as they don't meet CEC standards due to the lack of the metal bonding strap. But really, what's the point since it's a plastic box?One tip before you try to use one is to drive the screws through the clips before inserting it into a hole in the wall. It will make life much easier. There are a total of 6 wire clips on the box with 3 on the bottom and 3 on the top.
