The press isn’t the easiest to use unless you get a separate clamp to press it down. But it’s a great starting point for book binding.

This is really a flower press and can be used as a book press. It comes with lots of goodies for making a go of padding (making notepads) or to help hold your pages as you attempt to do some book binding. You will inevitably become frustrated if you are using this sort of tool to make a stitched book binding, but it is definitely a great tool to have on hand if you want to take up bookmaking as a hobby.This kit comes with a lot of useful supplies. The bamboo top and bottom are nice and thick. They are identical in size and the holes are placed perfectly for making a nice tool! You have to assemble this yourself, but you can do it! It's not complicated and it would be a great activity for a teen or tween. The handle is not super quality, but it is sized right for the pilot holes. Having a handle helps with functionality. The needles are good quality, as are the bone folders.You get an impressive amount of bookbinding cloth in this kit!

This is a good set to start your book binding journey, However I found myself raiding the garage for some clamps.Other than the lack of some simple C clamps this is a great set. and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get started binding their own or even just fixing up some older books!But I definitely recommend grabbing some clamps especially if you have some thicker work because they will help you Keep your project tight!!

I hesitated buying this kit until I tried pricing each item and saw the value in it. Well packaged, as described and no missing prices.- The mull cloth is much larger than I was expecting. I included a photo to show the size and in my photo it is still folded in half.- The metal ruler does not have a cork backing so you may want to get another one.

This was a fun little assembly project, which needed a little bit of crazy glue because the pre-drilled holes were too big for the screws they provided.I still haven't really understood what all the tools are for yet but I am impressed with the quality of the ones they included.I produce my own zines at home and would like to have a very defined fold line. The book press really elevated the crispness of my zine (5.5" x 8.5") and the folding tool kept my oily fingers from smearing the pages when folding.This is a good buy for a person like me.Pro tip! If you are an intuitive person, you can make one by going to the dollar store for a a couple of bamboo cutting boards and 15 bucks in hardware at home Depot.
