I specifically ordered this because it didn't come with a mattress. I already had one and didn't need another.My partner is a physicist turned math teacher, and I am a box-of-rocks turned Earth Science teacher, we worked together and got it put up in a little over an hour.It looks great! Fits with the black and wood theme of the room, and is comfortable as a couch and/or a bed. (Again, in part because I already had a nice pad to put on it.)

The end product was pretty nice; however though I pride myself on a bit of intelligence, the directions and the actual labor on this were excruciating. It took quite a while to get it together...should have had some help so shame on me.

Oh my. After 6 hours and 23 minutes the futon frame is errected.It's not stable yet...the included allem Wrenches appear to be made of soft metal and stripped before each bolt could be tightened.Let's see...I yelled at the kids twice. Kids yelled at the dog. And wife left me.You better have a PHd in Ikea engineering if you think you can put this futon frame together in less than two weekends.Oh by the way, every picture in the Amazon advertisement for this futon shows a beautiful green mattress. Guess what? No mattress!

DOES NOT come with a mattress. If you have glasses and did not read the 4 font on the last line under the description then you will miss that it does not come with a mattress. Bait and switch practice, this company should be ashamed. It should be in bold print and line 1 under description. Amazon you should be ashamed to work with this company, and I will be giving zero stars for the last 100 items I’ve purchased with you to make a point.

2 screws in the pkg were not included in the parts list. Putting the platform onto the arms assembly was nearly impossible. It takes at least 2 people to assemble it. The most ridiculous design I have ever seen.
