Product Description

NF-A20 PWM Header

The NF-A20 is a highly optimised, premium quality quiet 200mm fan. Featuring an AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) standard frame as well as sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A20 brings the renowned quiet cooling performance of Noctua’s award-winning A-series to the increasingly popular 20cm form factor. The PWM version uses Noctua’s custom designed NE-FD1 IC for fully automatic speed control via 4-pin fan headers, which allows it to strike a perfect balance between quietness and ventilation performance in each given situation. Its superb running smoothness, reference-class SSO2 bearing and Noctua’s trusted premium quality make the NF-A20 an elite choice for the highest demands.

200mm

Award-winning Noctua quality in 20cm size

While more and more PC cases support 20cm intake, side-panel or exhaust fans, many of the bundled stock units and available aftermarket options are of questionable quality. By contrast, the NF-A20 is a true premium grade solution worthy of Noctua’s award-winning A-series.

Caution: As there is no fixed industry standard for the shape, thickness or hole spacing of 200mm, 220mm, 230mm or 250mm fans, compatibility can vary from case to case. Please check compatibily before purchase. A case compatibility list can be found on the Noctua website.

NF-A20 AVP

Flow Acceleration Channels

The NF-A20 impeller features suction side Flow Acceleration Channels. By speeding up the airflow at the crucial outer blade regions, this measure reduces suction side flow separation and thus leads to better efficiency and lower vortex noise.

SSO2

SSO2 bearing

The NF-A20 features the further optimised second generation of Noctua's renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilisation, precision and durability.

Integrated anti-vibration pads

154mm, 110x180mm and 170mm hole spacing

In order to ensure broad compatibility with today’s PC cases, the NF-A20 features three sets of mounting holes: While the 154x154mm and 110x180mm spacing allow it to replace most 200mm fans, the 170x170mm spacing is used by many 230 and 250mm fans, which can thus also be replaced by the NF-A20.

Pros:-Silent due to pushing good air at low RPMs-comes with an extension and even a low noise adapter to force its max RPM to be lower if needed-Price isn't bad considering the qualityCons:-Very thick which can cause an issue in some casesAwesome quality fan that I have no issues recommending to people if that are in the market for a good quality low noise fan.Side note for fitting in the Cooler Master h500 case:It fits in the top if you remove the rubber bits on the corner (other wise they'll fold due to pushing), then line it up so when you shove it in then it'll basically be where the holes are lol Yes I said shove it in. You have to force it in, but no worries it won't break the case nor the fan. Secure it with screws in the fan box instead of the silicone options. The Case wasn't made to accommodate a 200mm of this thickness, but it will still work. Just make sure you have the fan oriented the right direction ahead of time so you can have enough room to plug it in, though it does come with a nice extension that I did use for tidy cabling purposes.I did not try the front fan section since there are no mounting standards for 200mm fans. Since the top was a very tight squeeze, there was obviously no planning around making Noctua's 200mm fans fit.

- I was sick of a hearing an 300k mile Camry trying to get into 5th sitting under the desk. (That's right, that's where the box belongs, not on top right next to your screen with the design aesthetic of a Tijuana Nightclub.) Noctua fans are QUIET. I CANNOT HEAR MY BOX AT ALL ANYMORE AT IDLE, and even at full RPM they are so much more bearable, and move more air, than any other brand that I have had. Pretty much the quietest case fans on the market.- The build quality is exceptional. Noctua specializes in case fans, and they make them better than anyone. The best bearing setup. The best fin design. The tough plastic. The tightest assembly. Looong Lifespans.- PWM control option for all models. Set the curve, ride the silence, or unleash the fury.- Braided cord, extensions, and y adapter included. Also silicone standoffs and stainless grubs. Nice.- The packaging. You can feel the love these people put into their product just oogling the cardboard it comes in.- I like the look of the dreaded Noctua Beige + Brown. It's pure function over form. Extreme efficiency and utilitarianism.

I bought this as a replacement for the stock fan in my CM Trooper since it started making a horrible grinding noise which kept getting worse over the last few months.I was hesitant to buy this particular fan due to many reviews stating this fan being oversized and not fitting, plus my case wasn't listed on the official compatibility table either. But there are not a lot of good options for 200mm fans and most had some kind of flaw. The Noctua's are touted as the best on the market and the only flaw seemed to be its size. So I went ahead and chanced it, with the plan to return it for 2 smaller fans if it didn't fit.To my surprise, it fit great! The screw holes were only slightly off and I was able to install with no issues. The fan comes with several different mounting options - standard mounting screws and also 2 styles of anti-vibration mounts. I went with the anti-vibration mounts which made installation even easier since you just pull the flexible strands thru the holes, no tools required. It took longer to figure out how to take my case apart to get to the top fan than actually installing it.Turned on the PC and no more grinding sound! I'm about a week in, so will be interesting to see how things are a month/year down the road, but so far this thing is quiet and provides great airflow. Definitely lives up to its reputation.

I learned of Noctua when building my pc and had to try a few fans. I already owned a bunch of low price decent fans. I upgraded my water cooling since I was running a I9 13 series chip and needed a little more cooling in my MicroATX case... since I maxed out all my options with having a 240 and 280 radiator I only had two intake fans... My solution was to cut out a spot for the NF-A20 because of its massive static pressure and air flow @ near silent. Now my Rx 580 never turns on doing office stuff running a 4k and 1080 monitors. Plus I did the math and the power usage on this thing compared to any other 200mm fan is saving $40 per year. The thing pays for itself in half a year!!

This is a perfect drop in replacement for the stock 200 mm fan in the Thermaltake Core V1. No modifications to the case or fan were required.Performance and Quality. The fan is well built, attractive and performs excellently, as one would expect from Noctua. Even at full speed, the fan is barely audible - much quieter than my stock Intel CPU fan even at idle speeds. As a PWM fan, of course, it doesn't have to run at full speed. I'm normally running it at about 60% and I never even hear it. It effectively cools my system built on an Intel 65W Core i5 running at stock speeds, 16 GB RAM, Samsung 970 Plus M.2 SSD and 2 Samsung 860 SATA SSDs.Installation: Use the inner set of mounting holes on the Noctua NF-A-20. They align perfectly with the mounting holes used for the stock fan and make it possible to use the original mounting screws that came with the case. The Noctua fan is a hair thicker than the stock fan, potentially bumping it up against the front cover of the case. I removed the rubber vibration dampers from the Noctua fan just to be sure I had sufficient clearance. Absolutely no issues with vibration noise. I mounted the fan so that the wiring passed through front wall of the of the case by the small rectangular cutout at the bottom. It was close, but the wiring can enter this way with no pinching or rubbing of the wires. If you are happy with the wires entering through the top of the case, that path is wide open. Mounting the fan with the wiring on the side, though, may pinch the wires. Mounting the fan as I did, I needed the included 4 pin extension cable to reach the fan header on my motherboard.

The front 200mm intake fan in my Corsair Obsidian 650D has started to go bad. It was spinning for 9 years at full 800 RPM speed so obviously it will eventually fail. I noticed that the majority of the 200mm fans sold here had the same 11 blade design as the original Corsair fan. The problem might eventually happen again so I took the Noctua route. The good thing about this new fan is that it only has 9 fan blades. It feels more solid and less likely to snap off compared to a thinner blade. Its quiet at full speed as I have it connected directly to the power supply since this is the only intake fan in the case. It came with lots of accessories. I tried mounting the fan using the rubber mounts but this big fan was too heavy for it. It was slightly sagging down causing some wiggle room. I just used regular screws and it felt more secure. The color is not the best but it didn't matter as its hidden behind the dust filter and away from the side window. The fan has a delay at spinning as if its not receiving volts properly. It wiggles for 2 seconds after pushing the power button then starts rotating normally. It would have been great if the cable was longer. It was shorter than the typical 120mm fans from Noctua. This 200mm fan is pricy at $40 but worth the extra $10 premium over the competition. The bearings and the long warranty are worth the investment. I chose the PWM 4 pin version over the FLX 3 pin since the Y splitter was more useful than the molex adapter that was bundled. I can use that cable if I want to run dual fans my CPU cooler. The new fan work great that I'm tempted to buy another one as my top exhaust fan. It would be great if there was a redux version of this 200mm fan.
