So far this seems to do as advertised. wish the bottom had stand off feet like the older versions that allowed more appropriate clearance underneath jars.

I was looking for a replacement in my blue canner that wouldn’t rust. It fits. I thought it was going to have to throw the water bath canner away but this works perfect.

I gave away all of my old-school canning equipment years ago during one of our many moves -- it was just too big and bulky to take with us (my neighbor was very happy). Boy, I wish I still had all of my things as they are hard to find now, and they just aren't being made the way they used to be. I have a lot of peaches to put up this year and trying to find all of the equipment I need has been more of a hassle than I thought. This rack is large enough to fit in my new 24-quart stockpot, and I knew I wanted one with dividers that would keep the jars separated so they wouldn't clink against each other or move around during processing. Almost all of the racks I looked at were flat with no partitions. And then I found this one, and the price was so reasonable. It holds 7 quarts, just as promised. But it is also light-weight and it feels rather rickety. The rack that came with my 40-year old granite-ware water bath canner was much, much heavier-duty than this one. I don't think the folding handles are sturdy enough to hook over the side of the pot and safely hold the weight of the jars. There is no way I would use the rack to lower filled jars into or retriever them from boiling water. Plus, once the rack has been lowered into the boiling water, the handles collapse requiring tongs to lift it back out (which I wouldn't recommend). This rack isn't quite what I wanted, but it will still work for me, as I can just leave it in the canner and add or remove my jars one at a time with a long-handled jar lifter (my regular jar lifter doesn't have handles that will work for this, especially when dealing with pint-sized jars). If the design was tweaked to address the issue with the handles and the overall construction was beefed up, this rack would be a winner.

When I initially placed this in my pot and filled it with my jars to sterilize them, there were no issues. The rack held 7 water filled quart jars without issue and I lowered it into the canner. When the water was boiling and I lifted the rack out to hang from the pot as I filled the jars with tomato sauce - again, no issues. But as I placed my tomato filled jars on the rack - it collapsed. I could not get it to hang again from the pot and ended up removing all the jars and going back to my old rack. This rack feels a bit lighter than my old rack. I verified it is steel, so I'm not sure the issue. It's the same size as my old one. I can probably use it with pint and 1/2 pint jars, but it's useless for my tomato canning.
