These Norpro 1281 Grapefruit Spoons, along with the Norpro 1280 Grapefruit Spoons, are the best of all! I bought these along with the other highest-rated (by customers) grapefruit spoons, the ones by WMF Manaos/Bistro, and they are not even close. The latter just don't cut very well, they have tiny serrations and cut as poorly as you would expect upon looking at them.But these Norpro 1281, like the Norpro 1280 spoons, are incredibly sharp, with larger TEETH. Cutting with both of them and comparing them head-to-head at the same moment, the Norpro cut through the grapefruit flesh AND pulp MUCH better than the WMF Manaos/Bistro!These Norpro spoons do everything expected of them, and they are much easier and faster vs. the WMF Manaos/Bistro, they just work so much more easily.The Norpro 1281 spoons are very attractive, as are the WMF Manaos/Bistro, and they are strong, as are the WMF, with neither brand bending at all when using them. It is just that these Norpro have much better, bigger teeth and cut so much more easily, without mashing the grapefruit due to any lack of sharpness.Highly recommend! I can think of no negatives whatsoever except that a young child or elderly person-- or ANYONE-- could very well cut the sides of their mouth, or tongue, by inserting this spoon quickly and haphazardly. One has to be careful when eating with them!As can be determined from reading this review, I love the Norpro 1281 AND the Norpro 1280. They are equally good in all respects. I just SLIGHTLY prefer the shape of the bowl section of these 1281s, a more typical, traditional shape. However, the 1280s might be a hair safer in that the thinner shape of the bowl portion means less likelihood of cutting the sides of one's mouth. Again, the 1280s and 1281s are equally sharp and thus are both great at digging through the grapefruit flesh and even the pulp.

I was looking for a set of decent grapefruit spoons for everyday use. I had read reviews on some of the other spoons here on Amazon that said some types can be too thin or cheap feeling, others were too sharp and uncomfortable. Because of the lower price, I chose this 4 pack of Norpro spoons and found them to be just what I needed and even better than I expected.They have a simple, sleek design that is comfortable and easy to hold - they're a nice weight. They do their job freeing the grapefruit sections from the peel easily, and aren't going to hurt your lips unless you're being careless. And the spoon bowl is a good size for scooping bite-sized portions, unlike more narrow styles. They look nice and blend with my other flatware. I liked them a lot.To anyone looking for an inexpensive but quality grapefruit spoon set, I would recommend these.

I'll be 67 this year and I'm writing this review for grapefruit spoons because I honestly always believed that they were a likely ineffective but yet a very status building and hoity-toity way to eat a grapefruit. I confess now that I was mistaken. I'm happy with the quality of these grapefruit spoons in terms of appearance and weight and moreover I'm especially impressed the way they effectively cut into the grapefruit so there is more to eat and less waste as compared to the way I've always eaten grapefruit for all these Wasted Years. Thank you Norpro for such a fine product.

My hunt for the perfect grapefruit spoon continues...Don't get me wrong. This spoon is pretty good. There are definitely worse spoons out there.Pros: The serrated edges on these are excellent. They sheer through the fruit with ease.The pointed tip is indeed great for digging medium and large grapefruit.They look very nice with their restaurant style.Cons:The shaft is kind of short, but manageable. Really not even a deal breaker.The spoon edges have a curve that makes it difficult to transition from the side of the fruit to the side of the rind. The same curve makes these spoons kind of humpy. Think "Cadillac on a bike trail," if you're eating a smaller grapefruit.I'm definitely not going to return these spoons. I'm happy with my purchase. However, if I happen to find a more triangular set; I'll regift these.

I have to say that after searching far and wide for the right grapefruit spoons, I finally found them! They're the perfect size, the serrated edges are the perfect sharpness, and they wash well in my dishwasher.Perfect for everything I wanted—and actually, less expensive than some! I gave them as a gift to my mom over Christmas, and then was the first to try them out. They worked so well, I ordered myself a set. Really great spoons, and they hardly cause any "squirts!" I would recommend them to anyone who has ever tried to eat a grapefruit without getting covered in juice.

Great addition to your cutlery if you like grapefruits, cuts up even the juiciest fruit easily and I have found that I can use these for any dessert items that a regular spoon just smooshes (like sponge cake!)These have become my go-to breakfast spoons as they function as two utensils in onereally good quality metal, heavy and solid.I PAID FOR THIS ITEM MYSELF AND RECEIVED NO INCENTIVE TO REVIEWBut I would recommend and Would absolutely buy this again!

Nice spoons. I purchased these spoons to help me have a better experience eating grapefruits and I was not disappointed. The spoon easily cuts into the grapefruit without making a mess. The edges are not too sharp so I do not have to worry about cutting my mouth. I ended up giving a pair to my parents. It's not the best quality but these stainless steel spoons get the job done.
