This thing is amazing! I used it to fry two turkeys over the holidays. The Dark Star was a champ and far more superior than the “turkey fry kits” that come with a burner. It was incredibly sturdy and I had absolutely no concerns of instability with the turkeys frying, even with multiple turkeys being cooked back to back. I had it burning for well over two hours without any issues. It also just looks cooler compared to the other burners out there. I read on one of the reviews the Dark Star should only be used for home brewing - admittedly, not sure why, it did a fantastic job with my turkeys. Spend the extra dollars and get the Dark Star.

I tried using a turkey fryer in the past for brewing and it was a pain. No temperature adjustment and had to deal with a timer that would shut off the gas supply.This burner is fantastic. I am able to adjust the regulator and obtain a precise temperature during the brew. I actually used it first when my wife was showing a friend how to can with pressure sealing the jars. We had to used the burner because they had an induction cooktop and our pressure canner is aluminum. That being said, I was able to maintain the pressure at 5-6 PSI for the required time with regulator adjustment.This burner meets/exceeds my expectations and needs.

Worked perfect for my home brew setup

This unit functions great. Brings 7 gallons of water to a boil quickly. Nice and stable without any worry of it falling over. No leaks.However, the quality is lacking a bit. After only 2 uses, it already started to rust in spots. Any burner not stainless will rust, but I didn't expect it after only 2 uses. Out of the box, the gas burner piece wobbled a bit and has only gotten worse with each use.Not a bad burner for your first one, but I'd expect to upgrade after a year or so.

Even flame rapidly brought 6 gallons of wort to a rolling boil. Both 8 &10 gallon pots were stable on burner. Reasonable control of flame level allowed simmering.

For the amount of money you spend on this product you’d think the welds would be incredible and sturdy but it showed up to my house broken. Pretty disappointing, luckily the woman in customer service was able to help me out and i ordered another one. If it shows up better and NOT broken, i will change my review rating. And rate it based on it’s ability.

I just started home brewing, so I did a lot of research on different brewing methods and outdoor brewing looks like it's the way to go. I'm very happy with this burner! It puts out up to 65,000 BTU and is very affordable. The next step up for burners puts out 75,000 BTU but cost three times the amount. Also, I've already experienced a Boil Over on this burner and use it on a stormy day with very strong winds and it performed great! The boil over sucked, but the burner was easy to clean and I'm so happy this was outside and not on my stove! I would definitely recommend this product.

This is an excellent burner for brewing beer and also would be great for corn, crabs, or anything else you want to cook outdoors in a large pot. Got a rolling boil in my wort in 15 minutes. This thing is really powerful.It’s sold and delivered by Northern Brewer. The cost on northernbrewer.com is less but they charge shipping. Compare their price with shipping to what’s here on AZ and go for whatever is the best deal.Oh yes and the name! Deadhead approved!

So far, so good. Beats the last one I had - which I had 3 version of. This is simply, quality, and works. Worth the extra money.

I've used this for two home brew sessions so far. It has performed well. Bringing the wort to a boil quickly and maintaining a good rolling boil.

Bring my fifth batch of beer with this now. Works great and easy to control the temperature. Other than all the paint peeling off from the heat works great

I used this burner for outdoor canning! It was great!

I was expecting to have it cranked all the way to heat my water but to my surprise I had to keep the gas flow on the low side. I am very happy that I decided on this burner.
