After attempting several ways to make this wick cast a flame, I have concluded they do not work as advertised. I have set the wick at several heights out of the stem, I have doused the top of the wick, as recommended, and the flame disappears after a few minutes. Most likely the reason, the oil is not being absorbed up to the top. Also note, each wick end has a plastic wrapper. The produce does not come with instructions on whether or not to cut or keep the plastic wrapper. I have tried both ways and it makes no difference. The brass fitting fits into a standard wine bottle but it is not a snug fit.Dec 20, 2024 Update: To get the flame to stay lit, you have to soak at least 75% of the wick in the lamp oil and keep the bottle filled as such. When working properly, this wine bottle oil lamp is very festive and works as stated.

These fit the bottle perfectly. If you use a shorter bottle might. Have to cut the wick. They work great

Decided I wanted to make some alcohol bottle lanterns for my house, bought these and they are really nice, like the cap with the chain. Very easy to put on and held up nicely.

We place these is an empty wine bottle filled with citronella on our outside deck, then light it to keep mosquitoes away! The wicks last a long time too so this is truly a good buy!

The torches will not stay lit but for a few minutes. I am not happy about that. A waist of money
