I ordered this rosin for my great grand sons base fiddle strings. As far as i known it works like it is suppose to.

This is my daughter's favorite rosin in the winter, by far. (We live in NY, so seasons matter.)

My repairman recommended this rosin a number of years ago and I love it! Rosin, applied to the horse hair on the bow, helps the horse hair grip the string and Nymans is appreciably better at this than any other bass rosin on the market. Because of its gripping power, you don’t need a lot and the bass sounds better without the scratchiness of too much rosin. The only caveats are that it only lasts about a year, and leaves a powdery residue, meaning you have to clean the bass more often, but even so, Nymans rosin is totally worth these small issues.

This Rosin was recommended by our friends musicians and tested.

Great rosin. Not as sticky as pops. However it also doesn't grab your string quite as strongly. I like it for solo playing and if I'm doing orchestral work I just have to apply it every time I rehearse or perform.

I'm not a rosin expert. This is my fourth rosin -- I got it on recommendation to use with an octave violin. In that application, it grabs the string well but the tone is very nice; not "rosiny" like I half expected. Not a lot of powder, either, although what does get on the violin takes more effort to clean off.The container is a little weird. The rosin is foil-wrapped inside a nicely sealed plastic can. When I peeled the tape the block had sharp edges which threatened to snag the bow hairs. I carved it down flat with a penknife before using it.

The best rosin so far , at least for this season. I have many different rosins (kolstein, jade, carlsson ) and I have tried many others. Nyman is similar to Carlsson, but is softer, more effective and it sounds a bit more mellow. Kolstein is quite good also but a little bit more powdery. Jade is very hard and I never quite understood its qualities. The absolute worse I ever tried (and threw away after 2 days) is Pop''s , it's good for nothing.

I learned from a professional bassist at SF Symphony that my prior rosin was not sticky enough. Rosin suitable for Cellos just does not hack it for Bass strings. I tried this out for a Christmas Carols sign-along and had much better grip on the strings and a noticeable increase in volume. It is a hard rosin in a foil metal cup but with just the right stickiness factor once applied. So it earned its five stars this week.
