I bought this wooden recipe box as a gift for my sister’s bridal shower, and it was absolutely perfect! As part of the celebration, we had each guest write a recipe, so by the end of the event, my sister had a box full of heartfelt, handwritten recipes to start her married life with. The quality of the box was fantastic—sturdy, well-made, and the perfect blank canvas for personalization. I used my Cricut with permanent vinyl to decorate the top, and it turned out beautifully. This is such a thoughtful and timeless gift for anyone who loves to cook or wants to preserve family recipes. Highly recommend!

This recipe box appears to bamboo has two small hinges on the back.. the box opens fully so you can easily insert or remove cards. I have provided TWO PICS - we shall see if the amazon photo trolls allow them...4x6 cards fit in with about 1/4" on the side that is free once inserted. It comes with a minimal divider set and a plastic insert to hold a recipe card out and visible using the slot on the top. There is a film on the plastic insert piece you will want to remove before using. There is also a tiny magnet on the the front and top of the box. It sort of keeps the box closed... but I don't think it's of huge use. The foot print of the box is approx 5x7 or so - just eye balling it. The lid fits perfectly down on the base when closed. I noticed a few reviewers have had issues with corners and such. No such issue on mine - but production lines miss on occasion. I THINK it's real bamboo... feels like it. The bottom notes that it was "Designed in the USA - Made in China." In case that matters to you. I would certainly prefer MADE in the USA. The nice thing about bamboo is that it is totally renewable. I think it's pretty sturdy. It has a weight to it that is not unreasonable, but it's not a lightweight to grab and move it - although it's not super easy to grab either in case that is an issue. I find it easier to open the box and grab it while opened to move it. I don't use recipes a lot so that is ok for me. It will sit in a drawer. I mostly use it for "inspiration" and an occasional reminder of an ingredient. All in all, I think it's a fair price and a good box. Having said all of that, I never hesitate to update a review should new info seem useful.

purchase price: $17.60retail price: $30.55, 42% offpurchase date: May 2, 2024I was looking for a recipe box since the one I bought at Goodwill was starting to overflow. I wanted a wooden box that was well made; I wasn’t really interested in any of the things that came INSIDE a recipe box (I have since changed my mind). After looking online (mostly on Amazon), I concluded on this one. I have purchased a few others since and I now have something to compare it to.Before you buy a recipe box, you need to determine what is/are important to you:- a heavy box that will last for decades through moves vs something to start a young person with that they might replace in the future- plain or decorated: if you get a plain one, you can get the box to be carved or burned with whatever design you want (which will cost more than the box itself, I guarantee it)- magnetic closure vs hinges (I haven’t seen anything that offers both)- recipe cards that match the box/ theme; how the recipe cards are templated, etc.- stands: do you want your recipe card to be able to stand up on top of the closed box? Do you want to be able to do that WITH your phone together? Does that matter? Does it matter if the card needs support to stand up (like this one)?Pros to buying this one:- heavy, well made box, slightly glossy finish. The magnetic closure works like a charm and the hinges look well made and will last awhile- tall (in case you want to to anything on top of your cards and long (easily fit my 200+ recipes)- plastic shield: at first I thought this was a fluffy detail but I came to appreciate it: it will protect my 4x6” card and help it stand on top of the closed box (note: that’s not necessary but some people will demand this feature)- right now, it’s cheap: the retail price on this is pretty high. I don’t think I would have paid $30 for this box, as much as I like itWhat you should know:- I returned the first one I purchased because the top portion of the box did not flush with the bottom portion; Amazon shipped one to me in two days and return was a cinch (UPS is two blocks away from my house)- no recipe cards that came with this box: that isn’t the worst thing unless you hate plain 4x6” cards (I don’t; I somewhat prefer them)- Dividers: I didn’t like these at all!!!! The categories included: appetizers, soup & salad, pasta, rice & noodles, entrees, vegetables, dessert, and a blank one for you to write in (7 in all). They are SHORT. Sure, you can see them over your 4x6” recipe cards, but if you’re like me and you print out on regular letter-size papers and fold those into quarters, they WILL block these dividers! that will NOT work for me for sure. I ended up buying (!!!) separate dividers for these. For that price, I think it would have been better for me to buy another recipe box that came with better dividers, but you won’t know what they look like until you get the product in person...

The box is so cute and comes with index’s to separate between appetizers, lunch, dinner etc. It also has a crease on the top to display the recipe.

Beware - this item comes completely disassembled - basically I received a clear plastic bag with some wood in it - no directions or anything. I read the reviews before purchasing and watched the videos - it showed a woman opening a box and pulling out the recipe box already put together - no where in the reviews did it say you have to put it together yourself ... cheap piece of junk.

I am not going to use this box for recipes, instead I'm using it to keep 4x6 prayer cards in. It's the perfect size for what I need with plenty of room to add more cards. I use the acrylic frame on top to display a new prayer card each day. I've been looking for something like this for a while and this fits the bill!
