I used this tool to test the spark plugs and ignition coils on my Subaru Forester. The spark gap in the tool allowed a spark of about 3/4" to easily seen and from this I could conclude that both the ignition coil and spark plug were working correctly. Considering how tight engine compartments are these days, this tool makes spark testing a bit easier.

Perfect for occasional use, not heavy duty to use in a shop environment. If your not careful it will break but come on...the price is right for what i needed it for.

Very fast shipping speed and well packaged. This is a very handy little tool that will test sparks from a lawn mower to the high GM systems. The little instruction card that comes with the tester is a valuable aid you need to keep because it tells you the voltages for each system. Not really marked OE that I could see for lawn mowers-just use the very low end. For coiless systems test each plug-on instructions. Keep the card that comes with it. Very good tool and value.

I bought this to check the spark on my outboard. The plugs are a pretty standard size (Champion QL77JC4). The basic operation is that you pull the plug wire off the spark plug and attach it to this tool, then clip the tool to a ground and verify spark setting the gap at the needed range. The piece that clips to ground is threaded into the plastic housing and therefore the adjustable side. The opposing shaft that is supposed to settle into the spark plug boot is free floating. It just slips into the plastic housing.My issue is that the free floating piece would not snap into the spark plug boot. It would just push into the boot and slip right out being that the diameter of the floating shaft end was too small. An adapter would solve this problem easily, but none was provided and I don't have one. This causes a problem, because that shaft is free floating and you have to ensure the tool is clipped in a way that the shaft will #1not slide out of the tool and #2 remain upright so the plug boot will not fall off. Remember, you are trying to hold a predefined gap per your service manual so it needs to remain still during the test procedure.In the end, it performed the task that I needed and I don't hate it enough to throw it away. It is in my boat's toolkit, just know that it will take a little patience and strategy to make it work correctly.

i got the product but have not been able to test it yet, i use it for testing coils on small tool like chain saw or other things lie that, i am sure it will do just great

I used this tool to diagnose a no start condition on my 1997 Chevrolet 1500 5.7 litre (350 cubic inch) engine. I had already confirmed I had fuel pressure with my new pressure gauge and suspected no spark was the reason it wouldn’t start. This tool confirmed my suspicions.I only gave it 4 stars rather than 5 stars because I have not actually seen it spark to confirm I have spark in a working engine.
