Purchased this set to change the ball joints in my 2001 Suburban 1500 (4WD). It worked flawlessly! Both lowers were original equipment and at 304k pretty stuck. A quick application of the good old Blue Wrench and this tool popped them out and in with no issue!I will say that, as with any threaded tool, lubrication of the ram threads is essential!! I used old engine oil and a good amount at that.Good price, solid build and well worth it!

So I heard about this wonderful tool that could take u-joints out without using a hammer and length of rod over a vise. I hopped on Amazon and after a bit of searching I found this OEMTool that seemed to fit my bells and whistles just perfectly.I tell you I think I just discovered sliced bread with this thing!!I have a 1994 Ford F250 4x4 that is rusted solid from one end to the other and the u-joints on this thing were no exception. We had beat out a couple of them using the old mechanic method mentioned above but then I gave this bright green monster a try and hit the electric cordless impact on it and pretty soon I heard a loud crack and that u-joint just popped loose like Mother Goose and I didn't mash one finger miss hitting that rod with that six pound sledge! Why yippee skippee!I then gave the other side a try and wouldn't ya know it...it wouldn't pop loose. I had to fight that a bit from both sides but pretty soon it gave up the Casper ghost and it popped loose again like Mother Goose (whatever that means) and I was on my way to happy land.Unlike some buyers on here, my C-Clamp held up to my abuse quite well. My case came in quite intact with no cracks or broken hinges.I'm quite the happy camper.I don't like that neon green color. I don't like green. Too many years in the Army looking at green did me in on that color. But it sure shows up on my messy workbench in finding it!That is all.

This set is great, with a few issues. Like the title says. If you change ball joints you need this set. Yes, you can rent a set at most auto parts places and hope the tool they give you isn't so beat up its unusable and has the cups you need. Or you can get this set and KNOW you have what you need... mostly. I used it on an F-250 and had to use a piece of flat stock as the combination of cups I needed was too long for the C-clamp to fit. For most cars this wouldn't be an issue. The only design flaw I found was that the cups are not set up to lock together. In most cases the user has to stack cups together so the ball joint has clearance to be pressed out. This makes it so the user has to have thee or more hands or a helper to keep the cups aligned while tightening the clamp. When working alone, this can get very frustrating.Other than that, the set worked great and was well worth the money. I recommend it for even the home diy guy, like myself.

The generic loaners did NOT have the sizes needed for my truck, and ended up wasting an entire day getting anything to work. Order these tools (had previous good experiences with OEM's quality), and was able to press in the upper and lower ball joints on my 2006 Dodge 3500. The 3500 has a unique size of ball joint, and the steering knuckle is one piece, so it is really a puzzle to get everything lined up. Take your time, or something is going to get ruined. Because of the shape of the upper ball joint mount, I did end up crushing one side of the 'receiving ring', but it still works. It took my largest breaker bar, and all my strength to press in the upper joint. Get this set, and the XL press. Well worth it and a good value.

Purchased based on overall positive reviews. However, mine broke during first use. The holder end cracked off while attempting to remove a lower ball joint. No impact gun was used, I was using a ½ inch rachet with a small pipe for leverage (approx 12†of additional leverage). Hope to return for refund or replacement, hope I don’t get push back on return, so many companies push back anymore. I will update on level of service received in a later post.
