These fit on wine bottles and turn them into beautiful oil lamps. YOu can use any kind of oil too. And what i do is paint the bottle , with flowers, butterflies and designs in awesome colors and so some of it lets the light through so it looks like stained glass when sun shines on them if put them in window or near a light inside the home. The added candle wicks that these are ...makes it no only beautiful but very practical and functional as an oil lamp ..just for the nice atmosphere it creates (as candles do that) , and in any emergency to function as a light if power is out. You put oil in the wine bottle and then insert the wick and light it at the top . Makes nice gifts too. and so inexpensive that you can use your money to buy paints and turn the bottle into a work of art for an even nicer gift.

I purchased two of these wick sets when preparing for a whiskey dinner. I used these wicks inside two 750ml bourbon whiskey bottles. Although these are made for wine bottles, they are equally at home in other bottle types. I checked to be sure that the diameter was acceptable and placed the order. I was very pleased with the performance of these wicks. Several members of my dinner party asked where to buy and how they worked. I utilized a pure lamp oil with clean burning performance. Even when the wick is set low on the topper to achieve a smaller flame, the heat did not affect the performance. I will purchase these again for future events and for use at home. * One note, on taller bottles, the wick will not touch the bottom, so there may be some concern when the fluid runs low.

I had trouble with them at first with the wick burning almost all the way down and the flame blowing out. However, if you keep the bottles very full of oil the wick does not burn down and you get a big flame that can withstand most wind. We used colored marble-like disks that my wife had from center pieces or vases (I don't know where she gets the stuff, but I would guess craft places and others would have). We filled the bottle a little over half with those and now it works great. I dropped the star in the rating because of the learning curve and need to read reviews to make it work well ;-)I was close to buying the glass globes, but don't need them now (or least not yet).

Very happy with this purchase . They came quickly. I used a tequila, whiskey and wine bottle with tiki fuel. They burned all day with no issues. Better than candles. I used fuel with citronella in it. They smoke slightly but no offense. I had smokeless oil as well which was perfect. No smoke. The wick is not long enough to reach bottom of a tall wine bottle but still works as long as wick touches fuel.

This is a very cool idea and they do work, but I haven't used them for more than about 5 minutes so I can't comment about the other reviews regarding how long they will burn. My main reasons for not rating higher than a 3 are that the wicks are not actually long enough for a wine bottle (they only hang about 1/2 way down). Also the wicks are of very low quality. I have a feeling they will burn through pretty quickly. I ended up putting these into a short rum bottle and a short tequila bottle so that I wouldn't have to fill an entire wine bottle with oil just to make them work.

THESE LAMP OIL WICKS ARE FABULOUS. I USED A COUPLE IN OLD ANTIQUE DECANTERS. MY DAUGHTER MADE A LAMP WITH HER FAVORITE WINE BOTTLE. WHEN YOU HAVE THESE YOU HAVE INSTANT LIGHT IF THE POWER GOES OUT AND WITH EXTRA OIL YOU CAN HAVE LIGHT FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME IN A DISASTER (NO BATTERIES TO WEAR OUT). MY FRIEND PUT THEM IN EMPTY BEER BOTTLES AND GAVE 1 TO HER NEIGHBORS SO THEY COULD BE PREPARED. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY ON HIGH QUALITY SMOKELESS OIL. IT IS WORTH IT.

These are great! We placed these in several wine bottles we had saved from special events along with citronella torch oil and enjoyed them all summer! They provide a great economical way to DIY outdoor citronella lamps. The wicks were slow burning and high quality. The stoppers fit nicely in the bottle openings. I'd recommend these to anyone looking for unique outdoor oil lamps.
