For the price I was expecting it to be a haeavier gauge aluminum. I will have to wait and see how it holds up before I make a final determination.

I like this holder a lot, but it bent out of shape pretty quickly.I mainly got it because I'm tough on my bookbag and I would destroy any papers or regular folders. This does the job, but it's deformed a bit to where it doesn't latch right. It a lot more sturdy than I expected for its size and weight, but I wouldn't trust it not to explode when you drop it and blow papers all over. For regular office stuff it's great though.

You get what you pay for. This is a low quality piece. The exterior is well made, but the spring and latch are cheap.
