These mugs are so pretty and shiny they look like they're worth a million bucks they're absolutely gorgeous I have them out for show on my stove I don't intend on even using them even though you can they're just beautiful and so rich looking I would recommend these to anyone especially if you like that steel hammered look

Good look, quality & taste, holds temperature well. Lightweight. Healthier than drinking from plastic.

I only use it for filtered water. I wrote the company and asked if it would still tarnish with just water in it. When she found out I didn't buy direct from them, she wouldn't answer the question and said to ask Amazon. Very odd response. Anyway, after using it several days I have my answer. Yes, it will tarnish. I love though how fresh the water seems in it. And the handle is just perfect.

Since the description of these said "These Solid Copper mugs are traditionally finished: unlined and unlacquered" I was worried when they showed up with a tag that said "This item has a protective coating to retard tarnishing". So the first thing I did was put some finger prints on the inside and then rubbed a little spit on the inside. This morning I checked and while the fingerprints didn't tarnish the spit did! So theses are not coated on the inside. That is a relief! So I now have proper mule mugs like I have always wanted and my bar is better for it.As there is a lot of confusion in all the reviews for various Moscow mule mugs I figured I could lay down some info for folk.1. If you are making a Moscow mule in a stainless mug, a copper plated mug with a nickle lining, a Dixie cup, etc you are not making a Moscow Mule and are actually just making Ginger Beer with vodka and a squeeze of lemon. This is like making a Salty Dog without salting the rim of the glass thus leaving you with a greyhound instead. The contact with copper is a requirement of a Moscow Mule. While you can do things like pour your drink through a funnel full of washed pennies or drink it from a copper tube, I think these unlined mugs are just a better way to go. The last thing you want to have happen is to proudly serve all your guests Moscow Mules in nickle plated mugs and have someone's jerk date point out in front of everyone, that you have failed to actually make mules, and leave you looking stupid... who invited that guy anyway? Your sister? No Christmas card for her this year.2. Copper drinking glasses and mugs do not keep your drinks colder. In fact they warm them faster than any other common drink ware. Solid silver or diamond would warm them even faster but these are not affordable. You may think they are colder because the outside of the mug is colder but this is because of copper's excellent thermal conductivity.Basically these mugs are heat sinks that sink the heat of the air into your drink. If you want something that keeps drinks colder buy a thermos with a vacuum bottle or one of the original Bodum wineglasses that if I remember correctly, had a vacuum in it, though the modern ones do not if I read the reviews correctly. The other drawback of drinking an iced drink out of a high quality heat sink is lots and lots of condensation putting water rings on whatever you set it on and making people yell at you for not using a coaster. So for uses other than Moscow Mules, unless you want all your drinks to be room temperature, copper is the worst choice for material when you are shopping for mugs or glasses.3. Copper is fine and not going to kill you. Your water pipes are copper, these mugs are copper, that bowl you use for whipping awesome egg whites, your copper cookware, your multivitamin, etc are just fine. You even need some copper to be healthy (which you get by eating normally) as copper deficiency is rare but bad.4. Hand wash only for copper and then hand dry it immediately. If it gets tarnished on the outside and this bothers you, you can clean the outside with something acidic like vinegar or lemon juice or you can just do what everyone else does and use CLR or Bar Keeper's Friend. I think in the end you will find this is a losing battle and will just let them age gracefully. Do not worry about the tarnish on the inside. Also, hand washing doesn't involve leaving these soaking in water, leave them dry until you wash them.I considered giving 4 stars instead of 5 because as of the time of this review the unlined copper mugs are only available in 16 oz.

Flaking on first use after only leaving water to sit in it overnight. Do not recommend.
