This is not the proper clutch fork retaining spring (goes inside the bell housing) for a T-176 transmission. The correct spring is much thicker wire, 6 coils, and dissimilar hooks at each end. It was advertised in only one place on Amazon for $25. It was $1.99 on another site.

Does the job its supposed to. I have an 82CJ7 with a Ford T18 mounted in it. But the bell housing is the same as the stock Jeep so this spring worked just fine.

This spring is nothing like the original nor does it fit like a “direct†replacement should. Pictured on the right is the original spring and the left is the one I received.

This is not the right spring for the clutch fork on a cj7. Maybe if it was a toy...

Although the "fit " tool suggests that this would fit my CJ7; it is too small and does not match the original design.
