We needed a long tape measure to square the new fields on our farm and this does the job perfectly. I appreciate the rubber tape that covers the end of the tape to keep it from wearing down while it rubs on the buckle. Also, particularly nice is the pointed bottom so i can stick it in the ground for a perfect measurement. It reels up nicely and the end buckle is large enough that it won't get reeled up past the guard. When it reels up it has a device that ensures that it gets rolled up without being twisted. Not much more to say. It has metric and Imperial measurements and it appears as though it'll last a long time. We go the bright orange color so that we can see it in the fields when we set it down, and it is easy to find. Can't complain at all. They do make some tape measures that have a closed case, but I've found that on the farm those get dirt and such inside which make it harder to operate once it gets in the gears. This open body design is much better for our use even though it exposes more tape to the elements. We'd get this tape measure again.I hope this review was helpful, and if so, please let me know. I bought 4 of these for fieldwork and 3 of their handles broke off so they are totally useless now - this was after light use and only a week or two. Now, without the handle to role the tape back in they are totally useless. Also, there is no way on Amazon to contact the company and get a refund or report it through the order portal. These are terrible

A quality product at a great price that makes measuring long distances significantly easier and quicker, tough to beat. I extended the tape out to its full 165' length. Didn't note any defects anywhere along the entire length. The measurements are easy to read and the tape appeared dead-on accurate. Winding up the tape was quick and easy. Ergonomic handle with smooth action wind up real. This thing beat the heck out of trying to measure any significant length as opposed to using a standard 25 to 35 foot tape measure. When you need it, you need it - get one for your toolbox and be prepared. Highly recommended.

This open reel tape works well for casual homeowner use. I would choose a more robust one for everyday commercial use.The only thing I didn't like was the tape came out of the reel with the metric side up. I know you can just flip it over for standard measurements in feet and inches. But the real is designed in a specific way that is set up for metric as it's primary use.This is how I changed it so standard measurements are up instead. I pulled the entire tape out of the reel. Carefully took the real apart. Turned the tape over to the standard side with feet and inches instead of metric. Put the real back together. Then wound the tape back onto the reel. Now the tape comes out with the standard side up. Now I'm much happier!I'm giving this a 4 out of 5 stars. Minus one star for the tape being metric side up. And that it was fairly easily converted. I'm not going to deduct another star for the quality because I was expecting a product at this price to be made more for homeowner use than commercial use. It is totally workable for light homeowner use.FULL DISCLOSURE: I received this item for free as a part of Amazon's review program. But this will never influence my ratings or reviews. Every once in awhile you need a tape measure that is this long. Since we only need it occasionally I didn't want to spend a ton of money for a professional quality one. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much for $19.99. I was pleasantly surprised by the build quality on this measure. It seems quite sturdy and winds up well. We tested the accuracy against a metal tape measure at short distances and a laser measure at longer ones and it was spot on. You do have to include the ring at the end of the tape in the measurements. We like it and recommend it.

It is great to have a 165 foot tape, so you don't have to measure the first 100 feet and start again for distances beyond that. This is an open faced reel, so care should be taken to store the tape in a clean place where it will not be cut or damaged. The retrieve is quick using a side crank handle.

I've got a large hill in my backyard and I'd like to build some stairs.Being able to measure more than 100 feet is pretty nice. For the price, if you occasionally need to measure out longer distances, you can't go wrong with this.

I have a small plot of land and am building a small house. I saw this measuring tool and thought it would make marking out the size/shape of the house foundation. Marking the pier locations for a pier and beam foundation is the first use, but it will come in handy for other builds around the property such as locating the driveway's length and width, where the shed will be located in relation to the house, and so on. You can't use a regular tape measure - they are too short! This is what I needed for the house build.
