The book is thorough and it will take some discipline to use it but I'm very glad to have it as a resource--it will make the strap more useful.

This was bought for my grandson that has cerebral palsy. He used it to stretch out his muscles, and is able to walk much better now. Thanks for this wonderful invention.

Finally got around to doing some Pilates exercises from home. Pilates classes were expensive so I thought of doing it at home. The directions were clear and the strap is well made. Easy exercises. The only thing is that I wish that we can look up which core area we want to work on rather than trying to read the print benefits for each exercise name. Like a big printed area on top of the page on the benefits area. So we can just flip to that page.

This review is for: OPTP The Original Stretch Out Strap with Exercise Pilates Essentials Book, USA Made Top Choice Stretch Out Straps for Physical Therapy, Pilates Stretching Strap or Knee Therapy StrapI sure am glad it came with a instruction book. Without it, I think I would be completely lostIt really is an effective and useful tool that can be used for all sorts of Pilates moves. The instructions are laid out well and the quality of the strap is excellent. It seems like it will last my lifetime, at least.

I love stretching, doing yoga, working out, and also enjoy all of the tools and home equipment that can support that. I am rating this with 3 stars, which doesn't mean it is lousy, but it just doesn't meet my criteria for a better product.First, this is a high price point for what you are getting. A strap and a basic book on how to use it.Second, the very first exercise listed in the book, which btw is awesome and helps teach you how to feel into your breath, requires you to wrap the band around your body and the hold the ends with your arms angled out. I was at the very end of the straps, and I am not a large person. Anyone with any girth might not be able to wrap the strap in that way. To be fair, most of the exercises/movements will not require the length, but some do.And finally, many of the movements I am not feeling any benefit from using the strap vs. just doing the stretch on its own.Having mentioned the cons, I DO think that this could be great for newbies to stretching who need some extra support when doing the movements. I have been doing these sorts of things for years, so I am coming from that perspective. A help, for example, is that when holding the strap, it can, if you follow the prompts, support a better body alignment., and work different areas of the body.

The rope loops are large enough for me to use with my shoes on or off (us size 11.5) and they give good grip holds to help with getting deeper into a stretch. The rope doesn't stretch too much itself ,so no worries there, same for the stitching. It's easy to wrap up and shove into a gym bag, lunchbox or pocket for on the go use.

This is my second Stretch Out Strap, and it's such a useful stretching tool. Nothing wrong with the first strap which I purchased a few years ago, it's just that I wanted another one for my second home. It works great for holding a stretch, especially in a position in which you would be unable to hold a stretch for a prolonged duration otherwise. This is extremely useful for anyone interested in maximizing their stretching routines. The included Pilates Essentials book includes a lot of good functional exercises that everyone should be doing regularly. In many of the exercises, the strap is used simply for proper positioning or to hold proper alignment. There is nothing magical about the combination of the strap and the exercises. Many of the exercises could all be done without the strap, but you would have a higher risk of breaking form or not using full range of motion without the strap. Some of the exercises may require the strap, at least in my opinion for the average user. Examples of these include Inner Thigh Stretch (page 30) and Outer Thigh Stretch (Page 31).While it's true that anyone can stretch without this strap, the fact is that most people will be able to stretch even better with it.
