I recently installed a misting system in my greenhouse and included one of these drain valves. I placed it at the lowest elevation on the mist nozzle manifold. It works flawlessly. When I turn off my booster pump the entire header drains thru this fitment. It also discharges a very small stream while the system is in operation. I slid a piece of clear vinyl tubing over the discharge end of the valve and ran the tubing down the wall and into a high, water-demand potted plant. My greenhouse floor remains dry and I no longer need to water this shrub. The price of this drain valve is very reasonable and will esily pay for itself in short order. It will extend the life of my spray nozzles by slowing the accumulation of mineral deposits (calcium) in the nozzles. I am very satisfied and pleased with this purchase!

It worked just the way it is supposed to.Caution: it has 2 very small parts inside and will not work if you lose those.

Worked perfectly right out the box. I have no idea who folks are saying it doesn’t work. Hooked it into mister system connector and boom worked perfectly. Drains when shut off.

This product arrived broken, and it wasn't until I read a suggestion here in another review that I got it to work. The idea is that when there is water pressure, the valve closes, but when the pressure is shut off, the valve opens, and drains your pipe, limiting the evaporation & calcification on all your other spray nozzles. That's great. Located it at the low point of your supply pipe. However, the device is assembled wrong at the factory, & my photo shows the exact order both of mine were built. If you look, the water comes in from the left, and drains to the right. But the stop-ball is against the drain side, and the spring is on the water pressure side. This means that the spring & the water pressure both work together to push the ball to the "plugged" location where you see it in my photo. But since the spring and the water pressure "agree", the ball is ALWAYS plugging the hole, so no water EVER came out of this thing from the day it was new, for 2 summers, until today, when fixed it.Not only did it not work, but my misters would be dripping water for about 2 days after shutting it off, and NO it wasn't a leaky shutoff, it was just the quantity of water in the pipe dripping out bit by bit - exactly what this product is supposed to avoid.I simply reversed the order of the black ball and the spring in my photo. Note that the two brass parts aren't threaded, just pushed into each other. I put the black ball in the left section, and the spring slides into the place where the ball can be seen on the right side in my photo. Then, push the two parts back together with vice grips. Bang. It now works as promised. It closes when I turn on the misters, and opens a minute after I turn them off and the pressure drops a bit.

The product is not what is advertised. It is 1/2 this size and does not is what is advertised."Versatile installation: install in any fitting with a 10/24 female-threaded opening or at the end of any orbit slip-lok".The short version you get does not fit at the end of a slip-lok. You will be forced to purchase another emitter to use this device. Very disappointed!

Picture is of the old version, not the new one that is shipped. Works as designed and hose now drains again instead of just shooting water out of the end nozzle

I don't know exactly how to rate this item, because it has now been discontinued and replaced by a "Universal" drain attachment which Orbit sent when I ordered this item from amazon. The Universal replacement attachment works great! It is shorter and looks different, but does the job, and no little rubber ball to lose, such as is described in the reviews for the longer, original Arizona Mist 10115H. So, if you order this and receive something different from Orbit, you're still okay. It will work on your Orbit Arizona Mist system.

First of all, these are NOT the long versions as pictured. They are short. I bought 2, since I had one that I purchased last year that never seemed to work correctly. I then received this SHORT versions and they did not work either. So I took them apart and compared them to the one that was operational and noticed the actual assembly was WRONG. The spring goes inside the nozzle and then the little ball in the housing and then clamped together. These, including the existing one were all put together incorrectly, these were spring in the housing, then ball on top of spring. No wonder they did not work. Cheap CH crap, can't even put together a 4 piece assembly correctly.

I bought this to replace the original auto drain valve on my orbit misting system. The water backed up behind the valve, but no water was released from the valve. Maybe it needs greater water pressure. Does not work in my situation.
