I was using star line from huge spool I bought in the 1980's. I was going though at least a full line trimmer head each time I brought out the edger. I decided that line had basically rotted so I started reading trimmer line reviews. I decided upon this gatorline square trimmer line. Oh man is this stuff tough. I'm guessing I used a couple feet of line to edge our lawn which is about 3.5 acres. Typically I need to bring out both my line trimmer and my 5 hp brush cutter. I walked down our trail to our creek and was able to trim back the blackberry bushes using just my line edger and this gatorline. We have a bunch of fir trees that the low branches get in the way when I mow with our big lawn mower. I was able trim up up these low hanging branches with the line trimmer and gatorline. This square line is very efficient at cutting so that I only needed to run my edger a bit above idle. Normally it takes a couple tanks of fuel to do our yard. This line reduces fuel consumption by about 25% as well as doing a great job. Gatorline is a nice product.

I checked all the forums and this one came up #1. I bought it for my Ryobi 40v electric weed whacker. Buying both the Oregon string and whacker new, the Ryobi came prestrung with .085 round and it cut through thick weeds (~.25 inch thick) but took much effort and blew thru string. Once that run out, I strung up this .095 square and it literally sliced thru the same size weeds without effort and without going thru alot of string. The Ryobi doesn't say it will take .095 but it fits with ease. It's weird how good it feels to just mow down weeds with this line and watch them just disintegrate. The manliest thing you can do next to rescuing cats from trees and eating coffee grinds raw instead of brewing them is buying this line.

There is enough good with this trimmer cable to still call it pretty darn good, but other reviewers are being overly generous by my experience. Some of the good includes decent cutting ability, though there is a bit more shredding than clean cutting. As for its longevity it is about average, maybe a bit above average, but I had to bump out about just as much as I always have doing a full circuit around the front and back yard.Speaking of bumping out more trimmer cable, I had no problems with that at all, no sticking, melting, or tangles, a very clean process. For me the bad part of this is how hard it is to actually see how much I had spun out, very hard to see while moving. The bright colored ones are far better in this respect, as I can see what I am working with at all times. I had to slow down the spin on a few occasions before getting used to the feel, just to see what I had as far as length out.Cuts through grass and weeds pretty easily, but struggles on hard stemmed plants, and breaks on harder stemmed plants fairly easy. I am talking stems about 1/16th to 3/16th inch, and I wouldn't waste material trying to cut anything bigger. Still not bad considering how tough a hard stem is over a fleshy stemmed plant.Overall I would recommend this product, just don't believe too much hype related to this, or any, trimmer string (cable). I do prefer the multi-edged type trimmer cable as it seems better at cutting, but I have not noticed better lasting performance from that over this so...use your own judgement.

I don't have a lot of experience with trimmers. Mowing, yes, weed whacking, not so much. I got a new Ego cordless trimmer, and the line shipped with the trimmer ran out quickly. I went to the farmer supply, and bought about twice as much as Ego shipped to me. It ran out quickly. I ordered this Oregon 22-895 Magnum Gatorline, and it lasts a whole lot longer. All the time I'm considering, ordering, and waiting on my trimmer to arrive, I was reading and watching Youtube, to learn about trimmers, and about trimmer line. That's how I decided that I wanted to try this Gatorline. I also found out that if you hydrate the trimmer line, it lasts a lot longer. So, I dropped that 3 pound roll of Gatorline into a bucket of water, and left it for a few minutes.Yep - hydrating the trimmer line makes it last longer!!I'm probably putting this line to near the ultimate test. I'm clearing a neglected fence line, just covered in briars and saplings. Here and there, I find something this line won't eat, but it eats briars just fine.Don't get me wrong - spots where I'm cutting grass and weeds, the string lasts, and lasts, and lasts. Briars consume string. I mean, it's not a cutting blade, it's string. The string is used up, as I go. But, I most definitely make considerable progress with every reload of string!I'll be happy when I finish my half mile+ of fence line, and all that is left is to trim grass and weeds. But right now, I have a huge job on my plate, and this Gatorline is making that job a lot easier.

This is a trimmer line that was very well thought-off and its made of excellent materials. The outer jacket is square polymer (those edges go a long way in improving cutting ease as compared to the round or triangular models) and the core is metal (wire). It cuts like nothing I have ever used before (and I have been doing this for years and tried a very large number of lines that never satisfied me) and it will enhance the performance of your tool ten-fold. IMO everything is good and positive about this line. The only detail to watch for is that you should reel it a bit loose so it feeds easily. If you have any of the automatic dispensing trimmers or a bump-type, this will prove to be essential. Provided you do this, it will work flawlessly. With this line I can cut-off the thickest weeds (except for the really woody types when they are more than an inch think) in very short time. Best trimmer line I've ever used.
Excellent product. Easy application

Cuts way better than round line, and it seems to have a re-enforced middle section because it last much longer than regular line.
