I swear, when I had a spider plant my cats wanted to eat it so I had to put it up high. I never got another one because they wouldn't leave it alone. Now I buy them grass to eat because they have had bad constipation and they won't chomp on it!But I've just been cutting it up and putting it in their food and they eat it that way. This stuff grows super fast. It was sprouting by 24 hours. In a couple days it's really tall now. But a little goes a long way in the pot. So I'll just grow and harvest and keep like a seasoning to put in their food as extra fiber they will eat.It is also adding green into my home without fear that it's a plant the cats can't have. So I think I'll keep it growing even for myself.

My cats are nuts for grass to eat and this one was super simple to grow. I always put it in too low of a light condition to sprout and had some mold on the soil, but this time I followed the directions and put in lower light but not total darkness and the seeds sprouted quickly and no mold. My two cats love this stuff and it's so much easier to buy a bag and grow it yourself than it is to buy it for $10 from Petco. I have a grow light that I put it under rather than leaving it out for them to graze on - my female eats the tops all the way down if I dont sort of "hide it" from her. They get fed it more as a treat every other day than just casual grass grazing. Good stuff!

I found the ad for this grass to be extremely misleading - I thought I was getting the seed and a cheap planter, and when it came I was really angry and felt totally ripped off. I kept the seed, rather than returning it, because the new cat I'd taken in absolutely loves to eat greenery and I wanted grass sooner than later, so I got a window box and started growing it. First off all, it sprouts easily and quickly and a majority of seeds grow (not much is wasted). The individual grass plants are healthy and hearty; even when moved from the sunny front porch to the an indoor window with indirect light, the plants continued to grow just as well. But most importantly, my cat LOVES IT. I've learned that when I trim the grass down to a height that's good for her, I need to keep the trimmings in a tight bunch in for my little "cow", because she'll plaster herself up against my wrists while I'm trimming and try to eat every strand I cut off. So now, when I'm done, I can hold a full bunch of trimmed grass stems and she can chew through them like a horse or a cow chewing through a bunch of hay. I'm so glad I kept the grass.

I've been buying grass at the grocery stores and through pet stores and from the varied manufacturers of cat grass planters to the tune of about $5 to $10 for each growth I plant. I bought coconut husk soil and this container of seeds for $15 and this is the sixth planting of three different planters and they are growing like gangbusters! I'm very pleased!

My cat, Peanut loves to chomp on this. It's a healthy way to keep her stimulated and an alternate treat she can have whenever she wants. Super easy to grow too. I keep a few pots in my kitchen, and a larger container closer to my cat's food station or in her catio. I've tried clipping some off of the pot and putting them down in her plate, but she prefers to scavenge for the pieces herself and ignores the clippings. When the grass starts to die, I just rip out as much of it as I can, break up the roots, and re-plant fresh seeds, watering every other day. Within a couple of days you'll see the new growth, and you'll have a little bushel within a week.

I bought this for my cats and was skeptical that it would grow fast enough to be worth the effort. These photos show day 2 and day 4. I used Miracle Grow Seed Starter Potting mix and followed the seed instructions. I soaked the soil, sprinkled seeds, and put a light layer of soil on top, then moistened. Set in a bright spot outdoors, but out of sun, til day 4. Then sun. I only remoisten every couple of days. Cats love it. Two tips: the first try, I used a LOT of seeds and the grass was very dense. So if you want that, it will work fine. The second time, I put too much soil on top and the poor grass had to push it up like a hat. It seems to only need a small layer to hide the seeds. It really works great. When it is ready, I just grab a handful of it to lift the whole tray contents including the soil, then plop it into the cat grass pot I keep outside.
