I recently bought my first candle lantern, and I can tell you I will certainly be buying more. It takes quite a bit for me to absolutely rave about a product, so hopefully this review will be the motive you need to check this product out.First, the design is ingenious and simple at the same time. The quality is solid and doesn't feel cheap to me, so I am comfortable taking this out in rugged environments and hiking/backpacking if I make sure I take care of it (glass components, thin metal, etc.). The spring loaded design for the candle container works well to keep the candle burning evenly and consistently, though I will say you are better off using the regular white candles than the natural beeswax candle for a more even burn. These lights new away in a super compact manner, so thy don't take up too much space in a pack or storage. The single candle lantern gives quite a bit of light in total darkness, and I feel like they are ideal for a tent, an electrical outage in a house, camping in the woods without tents, or really any kind of emergency light source. Secondly, they are just plain cool. In a world full of battery-powered devices and flashlight, it is so cool to have a compact old school candle lantern that will burn for a long time. The candle burn times vary and are not always consistent with the UCO claims, but they last a long time. GREAT LANTERN - don't hesitate to buy!

I've purchased about 6 of these now. Gifted all but the ones my wife and I use.She has the powder blue one, I have this dark green one. It looks great - although I wish I had gotten the other green one instead. These little candle lanterns are awesome, they even put off a very tiny amount of heat. If you get the 3 candle version, you could keep your soup warm or coffee warm on top of it if you use a tin cup like I do.Just go right ahead and buy one. It's not ultralight, but it's lighter than a flashlight or a larger sized rechargeable lantern. The candles you can get for these can burn up to 8hrs or so, which is a lot less light time than a rechargeable lantern, so... there's that. I dunno, ya kinda gotta decipher how ya wanna use it. Be it for backpacking or just sittin around camp. I use it to doodle or write in my tent at night. Gives off just enough light.Ohhh - keeping these boogers clean is kinda difficult. The wax gets everywhere. That'd be the only complaint I have about it.Use the beeswax candles. The white ones aren't all that safe to use indoors.Enjoy, folks!

it is nicely built and easy to operate and has beautiful warm light. Just wish there was a better way to manage handling it as it gets quite hot and not much to hold

Sometimes simple is best. Not heavy duty but good enough. Finish appears thick enough to stand being left outside. Minimal padding in shipping container but I have purchased 4 and all glass arrived unbroken. I live in a area that frequently gets summer thunderstorms so loss of electricity is always a possibility these little lights will be nice to keep on hand.

Love these so I got another. When solar lanterns can’t recharge, these are ready. Even for calm evening light on the back porch, these are winners. Tiny and mighty

I have used an early model for years. It is Ideal for winter camping and was lifesaving in Yellowstone when our miss-planned XC Skii trip through the east entrance put us in knee-deep snow. Exhausted in sub-zero temperatures, our two lamps kept our bivwack warm enough to survive the night. I used one throughout Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and West Virginia.I do not go hiking without it!

As per the standard, UCO has been putting out quality outdoor equipment for some time now. This lantern is no different. Being collapsible protects the glass and saves space. Disassembly is simple and cleaning is a breeze. Candle soot wipes right off. Unfortunately, the candles designed for this lantern are pretty expensive. Nothing a couple videos can't solve, youll be making your own! The candle definitely is much brighter than without the lantern, as well as burns much more even and protected from the elements. As always, another great product I would highly recommend to any outdoor enthusiasts!

Awesome lantern, I've put one through some testing and ended up buying 3 of them! (for both cars and the house). Built like a little tank and it can mean the difference between life & death in many situations, including as a part of your hiking/camping kit or a car emergency kit. The ability to keep a warming flame lit in almost any adverse conditions is gold.I've tested this unit in a large SUV in Canadian winter temperatures (-15 C) for a couple of hours (approx. 4 in total) with the engine off and the candle actually kept an acceptable temperature inside the cab the whole time. Not comfortable by any means... but definitely survivable (as a last ditch solution). The folding small-format is a bonus too, as it will fit almost anywhere. And the lanterns all come with one 9-hour candle already installed, by the way.Tip: Get the cocoon accessory too while you're at it. I got two of them on sale at under 10$/each. Definitely worth it, as it gives you a nice & thick protective foam layer to protect your lantern, especially the glass chimney that's most likely the weakest link of the entire unit.
