WHAT IS OTAMATONE?
The Otamatone is a cute, quirky, and fun to play electronic musical toy characterized by its eighth note-shaped body, adorable moving mouth, and silly, buzzing, amusingly off-key ""voice."" Developed by design firm Maywa Denki, it was first released in Japan in 2009 and has been the country's best-selling musical toy ever since.
Innovative, unique, and now a popular toy worldwide, the Otamatone has earned high praise from fans and the toy industry alike, including the Japan Toy Association's grand prize Japanese Toy Award in their 'High Target' toy division.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
You don't need to be a professional musician to have fun with the Otamatone - anyone can get the hang of it!
Play any tune you like by sliding fingers up and down on the stem. Shake the Otamatone while playing for vibrato and create a ""wah-wah"" effect by squeezing the Otamatone's cheeks to make it's mouth open and close. Switches on the back of the head allow you to switch octaves, control the volume, and turn the Otamatone on and off to preserve battery life.

This was on an Amazon wish list for someone who loves playing with unusual musical instruments. I think it is the type of gift you give someone who knows music. Otherwise you’ll only get a loud Wawa sound. The bday guests all enjoyed trying it.

I love this bizarre, ridiculous little monster! I can already play several songs on it now, across many genres (Miley Cyrus, Billy Holiday, Nirvana, Star Trek theme song, Judy Garland's Over the Rainbow, etc.) I played it pretty much all day today. My cats hate me now, and react to the sound with aggression. I am experimenting with playing it with other instruments. So far, it resonates in a profoundly painful way with the kazoo. Adventure awaits, my geeky friends. This is one of many instruments I play as a Bard in Dungeons and Dragons.

This was easily my best Amazon purchase of all time.It sounds so adorable, it's super easy to play and looks great with a little mustache.Someone from the shop (Japanstore) also made a little Origami and put it on the box, that's the sweetest thing ever.Also, they sent it out really customer-friendly. I totally recommend getting this. I love it!

Produit d'entrée de gamme mais très fonctionnel, je l'ai pris pour embêter des potes plus que pour faire de la musique mais c'est très plaisant à utiliser. L'objet en lui-même est beau en décoration. Produit arrivé bien emballé avec une petite grue en papier dans le colis !
